Looks like a Yamaha. 160 hp at the crank? Still isn't in "Jap" territory. I'm sure it is a nice bike though.

I'm happy to see that Duc brought back the long, flat headlights. I wasn't crazy about the over/under lights on the 999.
I like how they claim that the bike has the highest "torque-to-weight" ratio of any production bike.
That will be a great conversation point when the guy on a bike with a higher "power-to-weight" ratio goes cruising by it.

Why would they? It's 50K on the testastretta-engined 999 according to those who know these things.Originally posted by fasterthanu

New video released from the Milan 1098 launch. The article says:
1098 Milan LaunchDucati officially launched its new 1098 superbike at the Milan show today and we’ve got the first video of the full bike.
The new machine will come in both standard and S versions as well as a special celebratory Tricolori edition for a limited time only.
Ducati say the bike has been designed to be not only great on the track but also easier to live with on the road, but the S version will be the first production bike to come with full data-logging as standard and both bikes get a full race dash.
The system allows you to record over three-hours of data – from suspension to gear and throttle position – then transfer it to a computer and use the software supplied with the bike to compare your laps.
Watch the full video of the launch and see the bike in action below or click the link at the bottom of the page to download the clip.
Ducati has tested the bike against its main competitors and claims the 1098 is faster around a track and can even out-drag the Suzuki GSX-R1000 in a straight line .
sounds very nice, any one got 30k laying around?![]()

I'd put my 996 for sale for one of those.
We'll see once they hit the dealers.
The price isn't bad either. I know its still more than a Jap bike, but under $16K for a new Duc superbike is not bad.
