I say good riddance to the dry clutch....but the sssa is gonna be missed...

Your 600rr has a single sided swing arm?
No I was just being sarcastic that the most racey of all the Ducs had a standard swingarm and that's why I didn't buy one. That and I didn't have the extra $50K.

SSSAs may be more of an aesthetic signature, but they do make rear wheel changes SO much easier. When you are at the track and want to swap to rains, undoing just one axle bolt saves you a LOT of time and hassle.

On the topic of being a "middleweight", none of the Ducati "little" bikes were ever in the same league as the 600s. Heck a mildly tuned 848 makes 150 HP, just 5 shy of a KTM RC8R, and about 30 more than a GSXR 750. Not to forget, it only weighs what 370-380 lbs dry. The 899 will punch well above its weight, power to weight ratio wise.

    Re: Ducati 899

Not talking about adjustment simply the fact that they need to considered when changing the wheel out as the bolt runs through them. On single sided swing arm the adjustment is integrated into the hub so there is no additional parts to fuss with.

Lol yeah I got that. I was replying to your sarcasm with yet more sarcasm. I should have thrown some kind of smiley in there. My 09 6r has a normal swingarm. And I LOVE it. That said I wouldn't kick an 848 out of bed.

    Re: Ducati 899

So it's interesting, you loose some of the features of the big Panagale like the adjustable linkage rate setup in back. ABS is mandatory. It's 10lbs heavier than it's bigger sibling despite a smaller rear wheel. Smaller forks, smaller front rotors. Looks like they've jacked the rear end up slightly, reducing wheelbase, rake and trail compared to the biggun...

Not interested in the slightest, and this is the first middleweight Duc that I haven't seriously lusted after. Have bought, raced and owned 748/749/848. I don't really blame the displacement bump and I'm sure the engine will be a treat, it just... doesn't do it for me and neither does the big brother. That might change if Nicky tears it up on the Pani tho....

Kind of a shame they had to go fuck it up. MUCH more interested in the MVF3 / 675R.

Same here I would much rather have a MV F3, gorgeous bike.

Cycles 128 has a nice white one on the sales floor. If you didn't see the 899 on the side, you'd think it was just another 1199 in the lineup.

The entire Panigale line is simply gorgeous.

I mean, I really wanna poo-poo the entire brand and ducatisti experience....
But if I could slap some dirty bike bars on an 899 and take off all the plastics, I could very easily get along with one, on paper.
