Ducati aficionados: Is this bike any good?

I found this on Craigslist, and I want it.

    1993 Ducati 907 I.E.

Has anybody here owned one? Have any info on reliabilty, performance, etc.?

They have a loyal following. Ride it, see if you like it.

If you plan on riding a Duc during a group ride here.

Just be sure to have a charged cell phone to call for help when you're stranded on the side of the road.

Thanks weenies, you're all very not helpful at all.

I like the looks and performance of a Ducati, but I have never appreciated the whole Desmodromic valve with spendy adjustments thing. This rig looks like it would have decent power, sound like the beastly Italian stallion that it is, and not break my wallet. It also actually looks like a decent 2-up bike for short distances, which would be cool for the wifey.

Did anyone have a friend who had one of these? Are they tinker-toys? (I fucking hate tinker-toys.)

It's the same basic motor in all 2 valvers. It's bulletproof if you take decent care of it. The bike would be good for 2 up rides and longer tours. The 944 kits make great power and torque (for an air cooled bike) but can make it run hotter depending on compression and such. I'd say if the 944 has some miles on it and hasn't presented problems, it should be reliable.

    Thanks Paul, I appreciate it.

I'm going to give the owner a call tonight, maybe cruise over tomorrow night to take a look and offer him a silly amount of money.
