    Ducati, BMW or Aprillia?

this is my 1st post and i am so excited that i found this forum! I live in FL but my wife and i have bought a 2nd home outside of Brunswick Maine. Here is my question, as part of the negotiation with my wife, i was willing to purchase a 2nd home in ME IF she was ok with me having a few motorcycles up there (i dont have any here in FL because the old people are wayyyyyyyy too dangerous). Anyway, i am now officially on "the list for a Ducati 1199 panigale s tricolor! My question is this, i want to have a 2nd bike up there as well, something that i would also enjoy riding but could also be used for a family member or friend to ride when they visit. I have narrowed it down to the following:
    1. Ducati 848 EVO
    2. BMW S1000RR
    3. Aprilia rsv4 factory aprc se
    4. EBR 1190 RS

thank you all in advance, i love the site!

I vote for the S1000RR. You already have a Duc lined up, no sense in having 2 of the same.

Given the second machine is for friends/family members as well as your own enjoyment - something less race-replica may make a lot of sense.

Why not something more comfortable? No need to have 2 race rockets IMO. And do you have friends/family that are experienced riders? I would assume so, but I would hate for someone inexperienced to saddle up on any of your options up there.

Uhmmm.....can I have your job? What do you do?

And I vote for the S100RR (I am biased, I have one). Most power out of the box, and from what I have been reading may take the top spot again this year with the slight modifications they have made in this years model.

very good point, all of these are my personal choices for a 2nd bike and probably not the best choices for something for family/ friends to ride. The friends/family that would be riding them do have some experience but probably not enough for those. So i guess my question has now changed to include what would be a good idea for a bike to have for others to ride that have "some" experience, maybe something in the 600 range? opinions on options? Maybe a Triumph 675??

I would skip the ducati and buy 2 Aprilia RSV4's..of the bikes on your list anyways.
Or the smarter thing, buy 2 R1's and an R6 for the same money as you're already spending, then when your friend/family gets more comfortable with riding after the 600, you'll have the 2nd R1 when they are ready for more power

If you're looking for something that would be suitable for a beginner/intermediate rider, yet you would also have fun riding, I don't think you could go wrong with an SV650. Manageable for friends with 'some' experience, and you could also have a blast whipping it around.

I don't think I've ever heard a single person say they didn't have fun riding an SV. Ever.

I would look into the Ducati Monster either 696 or 796. Or the Hypermotard 796. That way you'll still have a high end machine that will be a nice change of pace from your Panigale (I'm so jealous) and will still be an absolute blast every time you ride it. The hyper would give you a bit of leeway on rougher roads too which I'm sure you'll find plenty of in new england.

imho: ripping it up on sport bikes in new england is a time gone by.

i'd get some version of a adv bike or three along with several sleds.

there's a lot of great riding north of your place.

i'm thinking the same thing, funny i didnt think of it to start with. it seems like the perfect fit, someone with moderate experience can ride it and i can still really enjoy it.. The others are perfect for me but i wasn't thinking about the experience of the others.. Hey maybe i need 3 bikes up there lol

Why have so few expensive bikes when you can have some many good cheap ones.

I know, right? Just ask these guys, they know what you're getting at....

Doc hate to break the news to you, but there ARE motorcycle enthusiasts out there who would rather have say 2 or 3 really nice bikes than a garage full of Honda Hawks.

You have a nice truck, right? Well why don't you sell it and buy 5 Civics? Wouldn't that make much more sense?
