So I have decided to invest in one of these for my Multistrada 1200. My question to those who have one, what brand do you own? I am hesitant to get the aluminum ones. Was thinking of the speedymoto one because it claims its impact safe. Anyway, what do you have?

For my Hyper 796, I ordered a socket from ToolTopia.com
3/4" drive 6-point impact socket, plus a 1/2" adapter.

And don't believe everything you think.
Mine is from Heartland Products and is aluminum. Seems pretty good so far, though I've only used it once.

Found a few 55mm 12 pt sockets online for $20.... hesitant to pull the trigger
I ended up getting the one from motomfg.com. Was on the pricey side but seemed like the best I could find. Came in two days without any issues... they're based out of NY.
I had one of their aluminum ones for my 848, it was garbage. Glad they offer a steel version now.
Adding new torque wrench to my list of item's.
$40 is not bad for the steel version. The speedymoto one is 70
I had/have a steel Speedymoto for the tool box and an aluminum one I keep in my pack in case I get stuck somewhere. I expect a Japanese bike to have tires in stock, but not Ducati rear wheels sockets.
That's probably what I will do too
Was going to recommend the TPO parts one I have, unfortunately it appears they have gone out of business![]()
Look what I found.

You are better off with this one:

Impact-wrench ready (you do have an impact right? makes taking off the SSA nut a lot easier). And 6 point is safer for high torque nuts like that.
Can you even use a 6 point on a 12 point nut? I thought you could only go the other way around.
I do, I have a ryobi one. Did not know about the 6 point. Will it work on a 12?
I might just order the mfgmoto one.
Yeah in true Ducati form, it's different than a small hub Ducati.
My '08 Hyper has a 6-point on the rear axle.

A 6 point socket will not drive a 12 point bolt. A 12 point bolt will have a vertex in the middle of every flat side of a 6 point socket. To fit the 6 point, you would have to go up in size so the flat areas will span the gap between 2 of the vertices. If you can even find a socket in a fractional size that would be adequate, the contact area will be small enough to make applying any appreciable torque a near impossibility.
6 points sockets are for 6 point bolts. 12 point sockets will drive 12, 6, and 4 point bolts.

Went with the motomfg tool. Good quality.
