I am planning to place an order for 2 sets of tires from k3offroad.com. They told me I can get 10-15% off if I order at least 4 sets, so I'm hoping to find at least 2 more people looking for tires.
If interested, please let me know!

Looks like trail tires and friction spikes, not screws for ice duty.
correct, these are MORE for all purpose winter riding, which is what I'm looking to do. Their X type will do well on ice, but it's obviously not "the best zomg ice tire ever"...
I intend to ride sand pits/trails/ice/whatever, so I can't rely on one tire that that will be the best at everything.

Those are definitely NOT ice tires. If you plan to go on a lake with a studded tire like that understand that you will have grip to get across it and turn, but you won't be gripping and ripping like you see on the Internets. It's a totally different setup for offroad and ice. I will say riding frozen/ snowey ground with spikes is some of the most fun you can have on a dirty bike.
while we're stating the obvious, should we also clarify that all seasons are not snow tires?

Hey do what you want, but you've been warned. I'd tell you that those x tires studs will pull out in a few rides if there isn't enough snow cover but you probably knew that too. Try not to get hurt when you try to ride a lake with those, you'll get to know the ice well.
Those thing are going to be a disaster at the track.![]()

Never tried true ice tires yet, and I'm certain they are way better than spikes, but I HAVE tried friction spikes on ponds, dicing with other guys on similar equipment around makeshift courses for hours. It was an absolute blast!
Very predictable sliding. I fell once but I was going pretty (too) fast because I remember seeing my brand new CR250 sliding a long way toward open water. Long enough for me to contemplate how stupid I would feel if it sank, and how/when I could get it out, if at all. Luckily, it was a shallow pond, and the bike caught a piece of tree growing up through the ice and stopped short.
Anyway, my point is, if you are on a snowy trail ride with frictions spikes on and see a pond, definitely ride it for awhile!
This season (If it ever gets cold again), I have a bike laced up with real fredettes though, so I'm looking forward to that too.

Thanks for the non-biased opinion/actual experience report with these types of tires. No need to dispute he previous posts, since they most likely haven't even tried this type of setup.

By your defensiveness, I assume it was the seller who told you they work well on ice?
Either way, I hope they work well for your uses!

I've researched every possible studding/ice tire option I could find, and something this seems to be the best compromise from ice riding to hitting dirt patches. The only other option is a 3rd set of tires just for ice. And since I haven't even found anywhere to ride on ice yet, I'm not concerned about it.

That doesn't prove you've ridden in these type of studs. Have you?
and do you really care that much which tired I get? This was to gauge interest of others.

Well, generally I like to think we all wanna make sure other motorcyclists are making informed decisions.
To that end, if no one had posted in this thread except people who wanted to go in with you...then those people might have thought these were real ice tires. Informed commentary to make sure others know what you're actually suggesting serves their best interest, if possibly not yours(getting a group discount).

You guys are making my dick hard with the friction spike in the woods pics. I think that's on the list for next season.

I'm not sure what I'm missing here, the OP is looking for someone that may be looking for tires, clearly states they are trail/snow/some ice...agreed with a reply in the very beginning of this thread stating these were not ice tires...and you all bark at him and give him shit because they are not pure ice tires and will suck on ice? Who's the fucking idiot here?
Surprised by the comments here and who is posting them
Yamaha
Me and a buddy built a couple sets last winter. Spikes are mandatory for winter netra events. Jday doesn't care, run spikes or screws.

I still think they're going to be terrible on the track, but whatever![]()
They wheelie though.

Curse you enablers. Now I need another bike with friction spikes, so I don't have to change over.
