It probably grew up in the ghetto... unless it's a white bike... then it just thinks it grew up in the ghetto.

Did this bike at one time belong to Darrell? he can freestyle like nobody's business & probably taught the bike a thing or two. Darrell's got more rhymes than the bible's got psalms.

    engine question

my engine is not even knocking, just low compression in 1 cylinder, and it's doesn't seem to be worth fixin

knock/rap is usually in bottom end, crank or rod bearings and means complete rebuild

    engine question

1996 900RR salvage title, probly been abused.. from argos, knocking in the motor.. the price said 1500.. but can prolly get for much cheeper. i want somehting i can fixup/work on over the winter. so that why i was asking about the knocking if it would b something i could fix, engine rebuild hard?(how much does a normal engine rebuild cost ya?) something someone with a book and some tools can do? what would u take off on price for knocking in the engine. i mean @ 1500$ hes prolly just trying to get rid of it cuz its expensive to fix?heres a few pics

    engine question

900RR, I'm sure it's been abused. Lower end knock repairs aren't hard, but I deal with them every day. You might not want to deal with it. It'd probably be best just to put a new motor in it.

Look up some cycle salvage yards around the area. They generally have what you need or know where to get it. They will do a leakdown test for you to make sure you have compression.

I drove to CT once for a KZ engine. It set me back $300 and had much better compression than the engine it replaced!

    engine question

    I agree

Get numbers for a new engine complete from Bone Yards in the back of magazines before
    you get in any further.

I think that is worth under 3000 if it was running well.

Of course there has been cases where 2 flush oil changes and 20-50 w oil has made rapping go away.

Or buy it and ride it and just make sure you have access to an extraction team when/if it dies. Just practice pulling in the clutch when it locks up.

    engine question

Be carefull. Argos sells bikes that are complete junk. The bike I bought from them had unrepairable damage to the frame and when i was having engine problems right after buying it from them their response was 'too bad, want to buy another one?'

    engine question

It could very well be a steal. The insurance report on the salvage could also indicate frame damage or a huge list of things you'll need to fix and prove to be fixed to get a rebuilt title in order to get it on the street. There could also be unfixable parts that they don't know or don't tell you about. In addition to possibly replacing the motor, which isn't really a big job, you'll just have to find one.

    engine question

Worst case is you have to part it out on ebay.

I think you could get more than $1000 if you parted it out.

+1 Argo's stuff is beat. Alot of stunters beat stuff there.

Ass for the rapping...If it sounds like this...

"I got lyrics out you ain't got none, If you come to battle bring a shot gun"

Put some Guiness in the tank and it should smooth right out.
