    New England Back Roads Rides...

I am looking for a book or on line resources for suggested New England back roads rides. I founds some stuff on the internet but so far the routes or mostly busy secondary hi-ways and don't get into the smaller, less traveled back roads of New England.

Please let me know if anything comes to mind. Thanks

In all seriousness...we don't post stuff like that because our roads are sacred. We don't want to broadcast that stuff to clog up the roads even more with tourists, squids, cops, etc....

You should check out the ride section periodically and then you can learn about them that way...and meet some cool folks along the way.

My recommendation is to get a Delorme Atlas and an different colored highlighters, go exploring, start color coding the roads and making notes

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle

I use google maps, look for curvy roads, and ride them. I've found a few gems this way, and also know which areas to avoid.

Ride and find your own. I've got a bunch. Others probably share them too. However, they're seldom traveled, and I hope they stay that way. Come find us.

Re: New England Back Roads Rides...

Do you have a GPS? There are thousands of tracks that people have saved. Advrider and some clubs have them posted online. This is from a rally I went to:

If you don't have a GPS, you're limited by what you can handle for route instructions, which limits most riders to numbered state routes. Depending on location, direction and time of day, you can have the road to yourself. Yesterday I rode Route 202 and 9 from Granby to Worcester and probably had a dozen cars in front of me, while traffic westbound was much heavier that time of day. This morning I rode Route 97 and some back roads from I95 in Georgetown up to the Merrimac in Groveland, again with little traffic while 97 south was packed.

If I want to explore, I pick a location in a nice area, set the GPS to "shortest route" and see where it takes me.
