did anyone in here catch the "ethanol"piece they did on 60 minutes...or dateline last night?..it was pretty interesting...they are using ethanol in Brazil now and do not import any OIL,they are also using "flex" cars that can use ethanol or combinations between gasoline and ethanol.....i wonder if someone has come up with a conversion system to use on motorcycles.....check out web-site "journeytoforever.org"(info on ethanol)

A good percentage of the new GMC vehicles are set up to run
E-85 (Gas/Ethanol mix). I check out the list and my truck is on it so I could save 30-50 cents a gallon but there are no stations that carry it anywhere in New England.

    Funny how things work out:

During the late 1800's, ethanol was used for lamp fuel and sales exceeded 25 million
gallons per year. At the request of large oil companies, the government placed a
tax on ethanol during the Civil War. This tax almost destroyed the ethanol industry.
    In
1906 the tax was lifted and alcohol fuel did well until competition from oil
companies greatly reduced its use. The first large scale use of ethanol as a
fuel happened during the early 1900's when petroleum supplies in Europe were
short. In America, Henry Ford's Model T and other early 1920's automobiles
were originally designed to run on alcohol fuels. Hitler and the U.S. relied on
ethanol to power their armies during World War II. After World War II, oil
prices decreased which caused the use of ethanol to decrease. The limited
use of ethanol continued until the oil crisis developed in the 1970's.
