    Lightbulb Exhaust Help

    Hello All,

I just got back from Iraq and and this is the first post, so be gentle.

I bought myself a new 2002 Honda CBR954RR that was sitting in the corner all alone as a welcome home present. (I could not wait until probably late May or June until the CBR1000RR arrived) I got to ride it last weekend and I am totally happy with the bike, except that it sounds like a high powered sewing machine. I want to get an aftermarket exhaust and could use some help on what sounds good with the 954. I am looking at full systems and bolt-ons and have looked seriously at Akrapovic and Two Brothers, but have only been able to find sound bytes on the Scorpion site. Any first hand advice from those that have a 954 or anyone that knows where I can get some sound clips would be appreciated.

    Thanks

suggest if you live in Newburyport to get a quieter one. It seems as though someone in the local law enforcment had it up there as .......to bag loud bikes last summer. Really not to much of an issue on a sportbike when compared to Harley... but definately something to think about.http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...wburyport+loud

seems most tickets are overturned though.... Just not something one really needs to deal with.

Also, from experience the louder the more chances a cop with radar... especially laser, will be sitting aiming at you.

I assume you were serving in Iraq so a BIG THANK YOU is in order first! The Ackro pipe is a fine exhaust. If you want to add 1-5hp and is just looking for beefier sound try a slip on exhaust they are half the price. Plus a slip on wont hurt your low end power compare to a full system that will give you higher gains in the mid to upper end. Just my 2 cents

    Exhaust Help

I want to thank everyone for the great welcome to the group and for all of the information about exhausts. I look forward to meeting a lot of you on rides this year.

One other question is if I go with a full system, will I need to purchase a "Power Commander" for the EFI?

Noticed a 2003 Vette with Dual Kerker Pipes on it last week.

Must be a serious power gain with them.......

    Heh heh, BOTH!!

Seriously, get a power commander and have a dynojet approved tuning center tune it in for you and your bike.

If your goin with the Akro, you can either get a free Power Commander or get one for $99.

greco...1st, a salute to you for your service! Look at Hindle exhausts too. I have a Hindle round slip-on on my 97 ZX900R Ninja. Sweet exhaust note! Gets deeper and more snarly when you roll it on without being obnoxious. Good luck hunting!
