    Exhaust Leak Opinions

Not sure if this is maintenance per se, but more of a what should I do question.

I have two very small holes in one of the primaries on my header. When I say small I mean half of a pencil eraser sized and one is smaller than that. They are located directly under the bike where one of the lower primaries runs under the oil pan. That being said I have a couple proposed solutions:

    1. Go to an exhaust shop and see if they can lay a bead over something that small.
    2. Use that high temp exhaust band-aid wrap
    3. Use high temp exhaust putty
    4. If I'm feeling like a real badass, use both 2 and 3.

Any input into this is greatly appreciated, and has anyone used the exhaust wrap/putty, thanks.

Cheapest, ugliest solution I can think of?

Cut a soda/beer can up and hose clamp it in place. Use muffler cement or high temp silicone if you really want to. Hell, if the holes are small enough, just use a hose clamp.

    Most expensive, awesomest solution?

    Full exhaust upgrade!

First you screw, then you bolt.

why are there holes? Rot or wear? Is there enough metal to weld too?
Weld a patch UGLY but cheap, replace that section of tube LESS UGLY still reasonable or new exhaust.

Looks like it might have scraped when going over a bump or something like that. No rot that I can see. I would hate to have to replace it with a new header.

have a patch welded on.. be done with it.. if it's worn through its too thin to just weld up. Plenty of good welders on the forum.
