    Thoughts/experience with this wheel chock?

I want to get a wheel chock to hold my bike upright for maintenance, cleaning, etc. Most of the floor chocks I've found are over $200 and that seems pretty damn steep for such a simple device.

I know harbor freight doesn't have the best rep with some stuff, but this looks pretty good:
Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

The only thing I would have to do is bolt that to a sturdy platform so I could use the chock on its own.

Anyone have any experience/info about this chock?

    Thanks all,

    -S

I know those are easier to just ride into it, but why not get font & rear race stands? That way you can at least take the wheels off if you need to.
I'd have to see one of those in person to trust it to hold the bike steadily. most of the ones i see at the track are the 200 dollar & up ones.
I wouldn't rule out getting one or two of those for the trailer though.

I already have front/rear stands (well, a rear stand, the front I have blows).

Honestly I want this to hold my bike upright while I put the bike onto the rear stand. When I'm working on my bike alone I really don't like the whole "push down on the rear stand and watch the bike tip" thing. I would much rather have a nice solid way of holding the bike upright while I get it on the stands. I could also use the chock in my truck as a secondary support to the tie down.

Schleppy - Here are some alternatives to a rear stand in case you've never heard of them. Both are touted as being easier/safer than rear stands. I've never tried either model. I think the Abba is a neat design & w/ some minor upgrades I think it'd be superior to rear stands.

    Abba Superbike Stand
    Anderson Stands S/A Pivot Stand

As far as chocks go...I have one of the expensive models (Condor). And although it does make using a rear stand easier, I rarely use it in my garage.

i dont like how it taller than the rotors. = bent rotors.
it seems like an expensive resolution to a small problem.

I know what you mean about getting nervous putting the bike on the rear stand by yourself. What I do to make it easier is to put a couple of small pieces of wood under the kickstand...just enough to get the bike more upright. This makes it so you don't have to balance the bike while getting the stand in place. Just position the stand and lift the tire. Do the opposite for taking the bike off the stand. It's so easy even a girl can do it.

well that is how a girl would do it.... Its easy and you'll get used to it after 2-3 times, just lean the bike against your waist, line up the closest spool to your body first and the other will almost find itself. oh ya, if you don't have spools get em, they are easier/safer
