What kind of fucking retarded rider brake-checks a car? Regardless of what led up to it he had to have known the likelyhood of him getting hit was pretty high.

My understanding is lane splitting, but when everyone is at a stop light. You "filter up" to the front of the line so you can jump the second it goes green.

    Why?

I am of the opinion that both splitting and filtering should be perfectly legal here. If people (driving cars) would just get over themselves and realize that they are almost never, ever going to be held up by a motorcyclist...

Oh, wait, I just found the problem. Lead-in-their-ass cruiser riders that hold everyone up.

Because other drivers do not expect it? Or simply because it is illegal? I can see your claim of douchiness when traffic is moving, as is done in CA (Not saying I agree with you). But when traffic is stopped at a light? How are you as a cyclist really impacting the drivers? What risk do you pose to them?

it is because of the "fairness factor"...

because a car has to sit in traffic, it would not be "fair" to allow the motorcycle to go....

and yes, I believe that most people have the maturity level of a monkey.

I still don't get how filtering or splitting makes you a DB.
I fully understand how holding up traffic makes you a DB. But neither splitting nor filtering implies holding up traffic. 9/10 times it is quite the opposite.

Cage drivers should encourage us to split and filter. Get one more commuter the hell off the road and out of the way. Most of us are going to leave the line with a heavy 'braaaap' and you'll never see us again until tomorrow.

STOP LIGHT/TRAFFIC FILTERING RELIEVES TRAFFIC. Look at the above picture. Imagine all those people were in cars too!!!

Re: Experienced some Road Rage Saturday

To be fairly honest, that douche rider had it coming. Why in the hell did he overtake the car, then slow the fuck down? What was the reason? Ah, yes, that was in Russia, and apparently a lot of people there try to scam insurance by dropping themselves in front of cars. Then he did it again so that the car WOULD hit him. It was really funny how far he actually slid down the road.

The douche deserved it. I hope police was involved and he got his license suspended. The driver had a camera that proves that the rider was downright mofo. End of story. I would generally defend riders, but he just deserved what he asked for.

yep, and that is exactly why so many have an on-board camera - to protect from the scammers ...

I just bought a car camera that has a GPS, is vibration activated and loops to a memory card. I'm going to test it and if this model works well, we're putting them in all the company vehicles.

What is the cost of it? I am thinking to add something like this to the car when my kids are driving to protect them in case of the accident wrongly blamed on them (happens all the time when the adult sees a scared kid and pulls "it was your fault, just admit it"), or to be able to check on their driving habits.

I see it as douchiness when im stopped at a light in my cage and other people on bikes fly by me, only because its illegal and it makes me angry to see people getting away with things that im a million percent sure I'd get caught doing. Petty? yep.

What do you do when you are on the highway driving the speed limit and you see a car pass you? Is it different? Why?

If someone on a bike buzzes you, yes that's a douche move and dangerous, but if someone filters up to a stoplight or lane splits at < 5mph in bumper to bumper traffic I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it. Sure it's illegal everywhere except CA, but if you're not a police officer then mind your own business.

Re: Experienced some Road Rage Saturday

Lane is splitting to filter to the front of the line is simple common sense. It's expected and fully understood in places where it's legal. Why would anyone want bikes to add to the traffic congestion? That said, I don't do it. I don't want to piss people off and I don't want a ticket.

When in my car: As long as the bike ahead of me does not slow me down once we are all moving, I have absolutely no problem with lane splitting/filtering to get ahead of me. Lane splitters better leave the light in a hurry though, if I'm first in line, I'll be leaving very shortly after the light goes green and while I won't be going for a drag race start, I will not be pokey about it; nor will I adjust my speed to "let you in", you'll have to accelerate harder than me and go fast enough to get safely ahead of me on your own.
