EZ Pass on a bike?

Anyone use one of these on the bike? I ordered 1 for the car and 1 for the bike. The one they gave me for the bike looks like an indoor one(looks the same as the one issued for my car). Where did you mount it?

I just leave mine in the map pouch on the tankbag. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When I feel like it, I'll put the effort into kinda tilting toward the receiver when I'm going through...

I am not sure if Mass does the same thing as new york, but would hate to find out. Every time I was in driving school. OK yes 4 times so I wouldnt lose my license. There was always someone in there that had gotten a ticket in the mail because the EZpass (fastlane here) records the times as well as obviously the entering booth and exiting booth. If your average speed worked out to be more than 65 you got a ticket in the mail. It would be nice to use one of those because fumbling around with gloves, tickets, bills, change, etc. sucks......

what the hell is that? so if i drive between toll booths at a steady 66mph, i will get a ticket in the mail from NYS?!?!?

anyway, i put the little velcro thing on the inside of my windscreen and i stick the transponder in between my screen and guage cluster...it has stuck up to triple plus speeds and has worked everytime...i know of some people who dont use the velcro and just jam it in there real tight, but i would rather have the extra assurance, as i dont want something like that falling into my wheels or something at who knows what speed

Guy at work has it in one of those map pockets that go around your arm like an NFL quarterback (as he had off and on luck with the tank bag). Say it's worked every time so far.

i just throw it in my backpack/tankbag/under the seat wherever it fits based on the ride. if i go through a toll and it doesn't work it's their problem i only owe the amount of the toll. they can see from my plate that it's all reg'd properly, a non-reading sensor is their busted equipment...

I had one of those suction mounts for the windscreen but somewhere on a nice twisty gap road in VT that turned to dirt, it rattled loose and disappeared. Since then I've tried the tank bag, tail bag and even jacket pocket with less than 50% success. The good news is my bike only triggers the alarms about 50% of the times it misses and I haven't got a letter yet. *knock on wood*

Sittin' in the toll booth fumblin' for cash or coins scares the crap outta me.

actually...they say on the site that the transponder needs to be mounted on the inside of the windshield or it is inappropriately placed and they CAN fine you for "processing fees"(or something like that)...althought i have NEVER been charged for the numerous times i have gone through without my transponder

I know commuters benefit from ezpass, but if I am going through a toll around RI and I know it beforehand I put bills inside my gloves. I dont even feel them and they stay undoubtedly in there. The newport toll bridge I usually put the coin either in my mouth or in my glove for quick pass throughs. I think an ezpass attached to a bike is an easy steal and more of a pain than anything. Plus that whole NYS ticket thing for calculated time scares the crap out of me.

I registered my bike plate with MassPike Auth. and never even bring the pass anymore on my bike, just ride thru it.

Yeah, I stopped even carrying the thing. They snap a pic of your plate as you go through. The plate number is linked to your account, so you get billed just the same. No need to even carry the pass anymore. I had about a 50% success rate for a tag read even when I had the pass on my windscreen or in the tail.

Really? I've driven the NYS Thruway more times than I care to remember, and I doubt I ever averaged less than 65 (nor did most of the other drivers). Never gotten a ticket in the mail despite using EZPass.

This is so not true. I usually do 80 on the Pike when commuting to or from work and am yet to get a ticket sent to me.

if your bike is registered with EZPASS then who cares if it works. mine is in the trunk. it usually works but ive found that if i stick to the side of the lane it doesnt even register a vehicle going through.
worst case scenario is it doesnt work and it takes a picture of your plate and when they run it they will find that you have an EZPASS. ive had mine since they started with 0 problems. sometimes i dont even put it on the bike and go through anyways.

Are some of you saying that the transponder can be detected on certain spots on the pike and will read your mph if over a limit? Or are you saying if you go 65+ mph through the toll booths you will get a ticket?

i think they are saying...

example:
if you go through the Rochester , NH toll and 100MPH all the way to the Dover NH toll they might give you a ticket for having an average speed over the speed limit.

i have heard of this and have heard of people getting tickets for it but have never gotten one myself since i rarely go through more than one toll.
