I'm going to start posting on NESR, in graphic detail, every one night stand I've had that I can't remember the name of... you know, just in case they're a member.

We don't have those kind of server storage resources!

Perhaps I could get my own sub-forum?
If not I'm moving my One Night Stand Night to a different location in DIRECT conflict with Jim's One Night Stand Night. So suck it, fuckers.

Isn't ironic that we have spent more effort discussing this here than has been put into the threads actually about witnessed accidents.
If you don't like those threads, don't read them.
Stop attempting to impress your value system on other people for something so trivial. Save it for the important shit.
How do I know? 80-ish members and over 400,000 registered motorcycles. There would need to be about 5000 crashes before it was someone here who had direct knowledge of the incident and much like the other thread, I posted at least 10 crashed bikes at the time and wouldn't you know it....not a single member here.
So let's try it again:
Blue Gen1 Yamaha FJR
Blue and white Suzuki GSXR - older model, unsure of year
Red and gray Honda F4i
Blue Yamaha R6 - looks to be late-90's
Anyone? No?
BTW Sam, I like how, because I put numbers to further show why the general opinion here is how dumb those threads are, it suddenly turns into *my* value system.
:hahano:
Look around you, man. I'm not alone. Irrefutable facts don't equate to ownership.

Re: Not a fan of random crash threads
I must be the only person on NESR who doesn't see a crashed bike every day. I feel like I'm missing out.

NESR (the internet message board, not the community) isn't the information hub for all that is New England. If someone from the board crashes, generally, someone else affiliated with the board will likely hear about it and let us know, assuming that it was appropriate to share that information on the net.
The KEY WORD here is "RANDOM" crash threads... We dont need to know about every single friggin bike that's involved in an accident in the New England area, especially when little to no information is known about said accident which is often the case.
If for some reason, a particular crash is of some significance - either someone we know or something that we can learn from - by all means, share with the class... but if it's a "Hey, I saw a bike accident, who was it?" thread, the chances of it 1) actually being anyone on here and 2) not getting posted after it's confirmed that it WAS someone on here are virtually NILL.
Post whatever the hell you want, but those types of random crash threads get seriously annoying after a while and it's pretty obvious from the way this thread has gone that the vast majority of the members here feel the same way.

Re: Not a fan of random crash threads
Im gonna start a thread for all the bike crashes I see as well. Hey, it MIGHT be someone here.
Heck, just last sunday I saw a bike crashed in the airfence in turn 7. Was it anyone here? The bike looked a little tore up, but the rider was up and fine. I hope youre alright!

I can see how you think I was refering to *your* value system.
My apologies, I should have been clear. Regardless of your leaps in logic and declarations that absence of evidence equates to irrefutable facts, I was actually refering to Pete's value system since he has choosen this as a topic for a thread and has decided to be the spokeman for the "vast majority".
Unless, he is going to start making arbitrary message board rules about what posts a person is allowed to make, I couldn't care less what his reading preference is and it will have little impact on what I choose to post.
I do not choose my thread topics after verifying first that he will be interested in it or that it may or may not be popular or if someone feels that some things should or should not be said.
Like I said before, there are plenty of threads that I have no interest in and don't bother reading. Perhaps people should practice the same attitude and stop trying to censor the types of threads that other people post.
I am not just specifically talking about "random" crash threads but the whole idea of having a popularity contest everytime someone gets a little annoyed about the type of post that someone chooses to make.
Exercise a little tolerance and live and let live.

I accept your apology. Thank you for clearing that up.
Please let me know what you desire to see in order to fill in the "absence of evidence" and I will gladly provide that information.
...and FWIW; Pete is not speaking for a majority here, per se. The thread was posted by him, yes, however there appears to be a vast majority who posted up in agreement after the fact and then the thread was bumped by someone who shares the same opinion of the original topic in this thread.
The thing is, Sam, when there are disruptions in a community that generally operates in a certain manner, the "offending" person has two choices, stay and figure it out or prepare to be ousted.
These are the unwritten rules of society as a whole, not just this forum.

Re: Not a fan of random crash threads
[tongue in cheek]Gadget, I think it's cute you how much you think I actually care about what you post. ;) [/tongue in cheek]
But on a more serious note... back when I created this thread, crash threads were popping up almost daily. I posted this AFTER talking with a number of other members, all of whom expressed similar frustration with people posting crash thread after crash thread after crash thread. You seem to be the only one who's up in arms about someone voicing an opinion that's shared by so many others.
As for making up "arbitrary message board rules"...
First - I think I started this thread before I was a mod... and even now as a mod, I have don't have the ability to make forum rules without all of the other mods and admins being on board and we certainly wouldn't make a rule about something as menial as this.
Second - I said right off the bat:
Quote:
Not saying you CAN'T post em.... just ask yourself "why?" before posting it.
No one's taking away your right to free speech.... but on the flip side, it's starting to sound like you're saying I CAN'T post my opinion that I don't like em.

Nobody is stopping you from posting those threads, this thread was simply a request (an opinion if you will) that people think before posting a pointless thread. It wasn't a demand, there hasn't been any censorship, nobody has been banned for posting a crash thread. There are no victims here, and your indignation is a little over the top. Is Pete not allowed to present his opinion? Ask questions? Make requests? If you feel you should be able to post whatever you want, why shouldn't he? Do you want to censor this thread?

You are absolutely correct.
My apologies, I did over-react.

Re: Not a fan of random crash threads
The NH DMV just called me back.
Currently there are 72,316 motorcycles registered in NH. This information will be made accessible online next year.

You know why you make me moist?
You'll call the fucking DMV to win at the internet. And THAT, my friends, is dedication. Winning at the internet is a difficult and sometimes thankless task, but for those of us who do it, its worth it.

Re: Not a fan of random crash threads
ima call somebody so i can win too.

As a winning prize, I declare that Bergs gets a new photo of your girls.
Please CC me so I can verify that this honorable delivery has been reached.
