Designed in Russia, probably good for about 5 miles when the expected truck veers into your lane killing you.

Interesting concept, but I am pretty sure my friend's Grand Prix in high school had this technology with the HUD.

Re: Fighter-jet helmets for your commute

I've been looking for something like this for awhile.

Hopefully, now that people are leveraging today's tech, it wont be long before there is an affordable kit with this kind of tech to apply to an existing helmet.

$1500 for early adopters (special first model price?)... considering the latest Carbon Fiber helmets are pushing a grand or sometimes FOUR grand, I think it's priced mighty well considering you also get your GPS, don't have to wire sh*t to the bike, aaaand it may just save your ass one day?

agree with OP - while the price tag completely makes it impractical, it's still very futuristic!

    that's movie quality

    /tin foil hat

Maybe Ive been reading too many Harlan Coben and James Patterson books lately, but I really dont want or need the Five Oh or Big Brother tracking me or knowing I just blasted to 143mph to get around a few cars.... They are watching.....

Just got back from Russia and I can say with certainty they don't use any english there. The sign for "something boulevard" is fake, it probably says "something skaya"

HUD Tech is old news, the novel part is being able to do the processing to lay out angle-view 3d mapping while keeping decent battery life in a unit small enough to fit in a helmet. Only in the past 5-ish years have car gps's been fast enough to do this properly, and only in maybe the past 2-3 years have they been getting slim.

I have handlebar mounted GPS and that's difficult enough, but it also means I don't try to look at it unless I'm sure the coast is clear and it's only a glance. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with shit flashing all over my face shield continuously. It'd be sweet on the backroads, it's the city that seems like a risk.

Yes it's old technology obviously the trick is to getting it into a helmet for the right price. I do some work for raytheon and talked to a few engineers that worked on automotive gizmos and they said the tech is 50 years old but the trick is to make it cheap and simple so that it can be placed in a car. Like radar cruise control.

I've heard some cool things about the Google Glass. Wonder if it actually handles well over the long haul and does what it is supposed to!

I like the tech but I suspect it will not fit properly inside a motorcycle helmet without modification.

Guaranteed this motorcycle helmet works better than the $100,000 contraption they call a helmet attached to my head ^
