Finally, my long awaited 1199 S

Finally picked her up from Seacoast on saturday. Didn't get out on it until today. Only logged 20 miles but this thing is a beast! The Termi's sound incredible too. Obviously I can't say too much since it was only 20 somewhat babied miles and it wasn't on a track but I will say it's one nice piece of machinery.

Plan on doing the tail tidy, the Ducati comfy seat and a windscreen asap. Other than that this bike needs nothing more in my opinion.

Re: Finally, my long awaited 1199 S

I'd love to take it to the track but I'm still nervous about it. I've only done one track day and that was 2 yrs ago down at Thunderbolt. I feel like I'd be holding up the pack in fear of dropping it. I know a bike like this is designed 100% for the track so it'd be a shame to not unleash it on it's favorite territory so we'll see.

A lot will call me a poser and I guess it's true to some degree. I just like having the best of the best, even if I "will never use all that power"

Yup the S and Tri come with the good headlights, not the base though. They're bright as day.

ahahahaha I wish. Getting time off from my job is next to impossible. You'll probably see it up there soon when I come watch the races.

Personally, I think you should go straight to the track with it. If not on the race track, that thing belongs in a museum. If I only rode my bike on the street, I'd never appreciate what it really is and what it was built for. I understand you don't want to wreck it, but the only way to be certain about that is to keep it in the garage and not ride it at all. Just ride within your limits on the track and there is no reason to crash it, especially not during a track day. If you can't control yourself on the track, you probably shouldn't be riding at all. Just go, take it easy and have fun. Hopefully we'll see you at one of Tony's days in May or June!

Re: Finally, my long awaited 1199 S

Congrats, man. Beautiful bike. I'm #1 in line for the base model at Seacoast. Ducati reports shipping to dealers (from the US location) on May 14. I can't wait. I might even spring for the Termi slips. As for track, I can flog my gixxah...but will probably consider track plastics at some point and take it to a bigger track (likely NJ or VIR). If so, I'll probably throw a Penske or Ohlins on the rear. I actually prefer the 50mm front Marzocchis on the base.

It's so easy to say you would track a bike when you don't own one... Hypocrites.

    Sick bike.
