This arrived just a few days ago. Its a Shark Speed-r. I always wanted a Shark but could never find a retailer. I took a big chance on this by ordering it online and infact this is the forth one ive purchased online in the past month and the only one to make it me for various reasons. One never arrived, one was stolen before it got to me and one was supposedly shipped but in reality wasn't. This one came from ebay rather than a vendor and it finally made it.
Its a really nice helmet for those that dont know about Shark. It has a nice internal drop down tinted visor that works great. It also has a very nice eyeglass feature that no one ever mentions. The side bolsters have removable padding that allows your glasses to fit with ease. Ive never had a more comfortable helmet while wearing my glasses.
Fit is pretty good but is tight on the cheeks. Im a large in Shoei and Aria but took an XL in the Shark after reading the reviews. Im glad i did. Its a weird fit though. Your head kinda floats in it since there is alot of netting to cradle your head in it. It almost feels loose but is infact very tight.
Wind noise is pretty low especially since they give you one of those chin deflectors (again, something thats not really mentioned in the descriptions.) My only complant is that with the visor up at any sppeds above say 45mph it howls like crazy. Forget about opening it at highway speeds. A crack is fine but fully open is just too loud. Its not as quite as my Shoei but is way better than my Arai.
Its pretty light too. Id have to bust out with my digital scale but its about as light as my Arai.
