    Finally got my new lid.

This arrived just a few days ago. Its a Shark Speed-r. I always wanted a Shark but could never find a retailer. I took a big chance on this by ordering it online and infact this is the forth one ive purchased online in the past month and the only one to make it me for various reasons. One never arrived, one was stolen before it got to me and one was supposedly shipped but in reality wasn't. This one came from ebay rather than a vendor and it finally made it.
Its a really nice helmet for those that dont know about Shark. It has a nice internal drop down tinted visor that works great. It also has a very nice eyeglass feature that no one ever mentions. The side bolsters have removable padding that allows your glasses to fit with ease. Ive never had a more comfortable helmet while wearing my glasses.
Fit is pretty good but is tight on the cheeks. Im a large in Shoei and Aria but took an XL in the Shark after reading the reviews. Im glad i did. Its a weird fit though. Your head kinda floats in it since there is alot of netting to cradle your head in it. It almost feels loose but is infact very tight.
Wind noise is pretty low especially since they give you one of those chin deflectors (again, something thats not really mentioned in the descriptions.) My only complant is that with the visor up at any sppeds above say 45mph it howls like crazy. Forget about opening it at highway speeds. A crack is fine but fully open is just too loud. Its not as quite as my Shoei but is way better than my Arai.
Its pretty light too. Id have to bust out with my digital scale but its about as light as my Arai.

Holy crap, that thing looks super cool. When Shark was first introduced I thought they fit terrible. ...id be more than willing to try one on again.

You pick, IMO, the best graphics for the Speed-R. Nice!

I have 2 speed-r sauer. One white like yours and one black/grey. It's a great helmet with great features. The lens and visor are great and it flows air well. Congrats or your purchase!

Ya, its crazy thick. I'm told it's the thickness they run in moto gp. Personally i think its overkill but it is rock solid. It thunks when you close it.

Im not sold on the airflow yet. It does indeed flow around the helmet and keep it cooler but i like to be able to feel a breeze inside. With this helmet there is none. Its just cool all around. I haven't been able to tell a difference between the top vent open or closed to be honest.

Yup. Lots of improvements over the whole line too. I originally ordered the s700 but got screwed by the retailer. All of the shark's line up is better than the old ones.

Sick! I've been oogling over this exact lid since they came out with it. Do they make a photochromatic lense for it by chance that you know of?

Re: Finally got my new lid.

Dont really need one. It has a drop down tinted visor built into that works really, really well. Just grab that large lever on the top of the helmet in pic #1 and your all set. Doesnt get in the way of my glasses at all and drops down right on the nose piece and inner edging so you get very little light through it. Id say maybe an 1/8in gap of light while looking out the helmet.
I will also add it has provisions built into the lenses for tear-offs. They are predrilled for the mounts. You can see them in the pics on the side right by the pin lock.
