    Finally! Got the SV back!

As you may recall, I got hit back in May...

    Bike has finally been repaired...

    ==

OF course... I had it all of a day when I started to mod it:

All that was needed to do the install was a couple Allen wrenches -- all the other tools you see just happen to be in the tool kit.

First order of business was to take off the bar ends and install the adapter. You can mount the CRG mirrors directly to the bar, but that requires moving your controls inbound. There's not much room on the clip-ons, so I opted for the adapter route:

(Yes, that is a car air freshner hanging from the brake fluid reservoir... and check out the slider install... gotta love having your fairing intentionally 'damaged'... the shop did a great job though)

After attaching the adapters, I put the mirrors on there. Installation of both parts were a cinch!

Here's what the cockpit looks like (with both the stockers and the bar ends). Jeeze, if I had this many mirrors back in May, I might have seen that truck, rather than get hit by it!

With the bar end mirrors in place, the next thing to do was to take off the stock mirrors and install the delete plates. I'm not much into bling, but I guess these are kind of snazzy.

I had trouble finding SV-specific plates... but I think that people have had luck switching stock SV mirrors with GS and GSX mirrors (?). So delete plates for GSX, for which there are plenty, could probably work. I was just looking for delete plates that would fit, not necessarily ones that said "SV" on them, but when I saw these and the price, I said, "What the hell. Why not?"

With everything installed and adjusted, here's the cockpit view:

Absolutely! It's like a tropical adventure! Actually it does smell maybe for like ... the first day or two.

It's just for fun. Secretly, it adds like 30hp. Try it.

C'mon... would you rather I have a shocker sticker on the windshield? D'oh.

BTW, who did the fairing cut for the frame sliders? They weren't in the "before" pics. Looks great!

    MTR did actually.

I don't think it's a top-choice for shops (or should I say dealer? Because they did a good job w/ the bike), but they were down the street, and worked with me on the whole insurance thing (I ended up netting 50%, or roughly $1400...), so I can't complain.

What's funny is, the day I picked the SV up, someone was looking at my bike, so I talked to him a bit. Turned out he bought an SV at MTR... same year, high mileage, no extras (I bought mine with the lower fairings, and hi-mount...). He paid $4500+ and added a warranty. I told him I paid $3k. For more bike. And less than 6k on the odo.

Probably a lighting issue... *looks outside window* Looks good to me!

Also, keep in mind that the upper fairing is brand spanking new, while the lowers (at worse) are from 2003...

You should have seen the bike when I first got it, the previous owner barely rode the thing. It had less than 6k on it, and looked brand new. Ask bergs, he helped me pick it up.

of all the fully-faired SVS guys on SVRider.com, i'd say 90% are OE ones (including mine). nice to see a little variety

    I wish I knew, actually.

I bought it like that (From of all places, a Toyota dealership, which is how I got a great deal).

I do like the look though... it's... spicy. Ha. I made a lame funny. Well, not really.

what'd you have before the SV?

my kat 750 was in pretty bad shape when i bought it... eventually it turned into a triumph katana 562.5 , so i sold it for $400 lol. still miss her sometimes, and smile whenever i see one covered in a color-scheme only an early-90s designer could love
