Where can I go to fix my fairing????

Does anyone know of a place near Boston that will do plastic welding and a paint job on my F4i? I've called all the near by dealers and they only replace parts not repair them. And all the auto body places i've asked ran away once i mentioned the word motorcycle.

My upper fairing has some damage and I can't find a single place that will do the work. If I have to buy a new upper fairing does anyone know where I can go to get it for the cheapest??? Thanks... btw im a newbie to this board and this is my first post

It also might cost you less just to buy a good fairing on E-bay, amasuperbike.com, motoruch.com ect.

Where can I go to fix my fairing????

I've searched high and low and all around the internet and on e-bay. I even subscribed to cbrworld just so I could ask where I could get my upper cowling repaired. Every place either has an new OEM one for replacement. Or is not the same color scheme and has major flaws in them... like cracks and rashes...

Where can I go to fix my fairing????

Well, I'm getting ALL the plastic on my Ninja painted.....a beautiful shade of orange (which I will post when it's completed). He is also going to fix my tank, which has a dent and scrapes in it. I'm buying new plastic for portions of my bike, but will have him fix a piece that's busted off. He's going to airbrush my helmet for free (to match the bike...my helmet is currently a dark blue). With all this, I'm thinking it's going to come to $500, but won't know for sure until he sees what needs to be done. What damage is done to your bike??? What do you want done?? I can run it by him and see if he can give me a guestimate for ya.

    wow thats cheep

woah for the amount of work that you make it sound like he is doing 500 sounds really cheap.

that would be awesome if you can get an estimate for me. do you have an e-mail address? i can send you the description and pics of the damage...

Ron Ayers Motosports has the upper fairing for a 2001 F4i in red (a guess on my part) for $443 + shipping. See: http://www.ronayers.com

Seems like the best solution since the new part will likely match perfectly and it's not really that much money. No hassle either. If you were riding a 5 year old bike, a repair would make more sense but your bike must be nearly new.

Repairing plastics isn't too hard of a job. When I dropped my bike 2yrs ago, I did the plastic repairs myself. I am sure, you could do the rapirs yourself too, if you knew what supplies to pickup at an auto part store.

i'm pretty sure i wont have any trouble repairing the plastic as well. the only thing is the paint job. And i'd rather have it professionally done anyhow cuz id prolly screw up somehow.

I agree with just replacing the part. It's hassle free and will match perfectly. There are some great body/paint shops out there but the chances of them matching the factory paint job/color/decals are slim to none. I personally haven't yet seen acceptable (to me) paint and repair work on any bike, unless of coarse it's like a $20 show bike or something. It'll also prolly hurt the resale if someone knows what they're looking for so a little $ saved now may cost alot more later Plus you could always sell your stuff on ebay

You can match factory paint! What is there a difference If its car paint or bike paint? If you know what you are doing you should be able to match it.

Where can I go to fix my fairing????

A lot of bikes have pearl paint, clear coat and stick on vinyl graphics. The cost to correctly repair the broken part, match a pearl paint and purchase new graphics (if possible) could easily outweigh the cost of the new part. $443 does not buy a whole lot of repair and paint work. The lack of hassle is worth a lot of money too. When you can probably sell the damaged part on ebay for at least $100, the deal gets even better with the new part.

Yes i know what you are saying. Alot of times i tell people the same thing. His is not that bad and its only one color. Cars have pearl paint and some have stickers too. I was only tring to help but i have to learn to stop that.

Don't do that. I might be completely wrong. Just sharing an opinion. If his fairing is a solid color and has no need to replace stickers it could very well be cost effective to fix it rather than replace it. I've done that in the past on an older bike. That said, I would never do it on my pearl painted 2001 9R though. Just don't think it would ever match perfectly.
