    Flipping a Hyabusa

Hi folks, story time, then a couple questions.
Once upon a time, a coworker bought a brand new 2012 Hyabusa.
For a first bike. And he's maybe 5'5".
Is anyone surprised he dropped it during his license exam?
He put it in storage, and never went back. So it has ~300 miles on it, a broken clutch lever and footpeg, and some bodywork scratches. One exhaust can is scratched too. I have pics, all damage looks superficial, but I still need to inspect in person.
He has a lot on his plate, and wants to dump it. He'll sell it to me for $6k.

Now for the questions. I have zero experience with the used Busa market. KBB says the bike is worth ~$9k, but I don't know how well KBB reflects reality.

Would this be worth buying and flipping? How's the Busa Market?

Yeah, it may not sell quickly, but at $6k there's some room to make some money. Even if you replaced everything with new.

The market is flooded with Hayabusas and if its bone stock you're not gonna be able to sell it for much more than 7K. The people who buy / want hayabusa want bling, extended arms, and loud short pipes....

And Im saying this owning a stockish 2012 Hayabusa (don't knock it, its an awesome touring bike)

Wow, I never thought someone would actually follow the "'Busa" advice.

Chrome it up, extend the swing arm, iron crosses all around, neons, it'll sell.

    Re: Flipping a Hyabusa

It would be a tough flip but you can do it. You would really need to replace the or repair the plastics and that could eat up your profits. Was it reported to the insurance company? That could also hurt your profit.
If you can get it without him signing the title over to you and avoid those fees you can make a couple bucks. I'm thinking ask 7 but take $6500 as is. It's a little profit and maybe not worth your time. Plan on tons of posers calling and waisting all of your free time.
You could ride it and sell it later. You probably won't lose much, if any, money. I would make sure that if you buy it you are OK with keeping it for potentially a long time.

I've flipped a number of vehicles in the past months..... carefully weigh out the potential profit vs amount of time you'll put into it. If you can find the right market/audience for it then you'll be set but as mentioned before, craigslist is currently FLOODED with 'Busas. It may not move all that quickly.

If you're ok with having that money tied up in an investment for a few months than it may be worth it.

No offense but it'd be good to spell the name of the bike right in ads if you flip it

Actually, I'd include as many improperly spelled keywords as possible, if you want to reach the 'busa demographic.

    Re: Flipping a Hyabusa

Might be tough to flip, but I would totally buy a 300 mile 'busa for 6k.
Leaves a couple of bucks on the table to make a beast of a tourer out of it.

Yeah at that price you are not going to pocket much $. Super low miles does not add a ton of value. It might if you sit on it for 50 years.

I tour on one too - I say buy the thing and ride it, great bike on the open road.
