There's a bike out that way that I'm interested in, however, being the no-nothing newb, it's not like I want to ride the hour+ out there to check it out - especially since I don't know how to look at a used bike.

If someone out in that neck of the woods would be willing to check it out for me, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Pete is near winchester. Ask him to take a look at it. If anything about that bike seems similar to his EX, it's probably broken.

I'm the next town over, no idea what you want checked out though. I can build a bike ground up but I'm no salesman or appraiser.

I'm just newb lookin' for a bike. Just so damn newbish I don't know what to look for in a bike... other than basic stuff like "does it look like it was down." I figure someone with more experience could help me out.

Basically, I just need someone to look at it and say "Yes, I would buy this" or "No, I'd stay away" or something in between "It needs some work on x, y, and z" (and using that as a bargaining angle)

Like I said, I'd go myself, but I'm not 100% sure I know what to look for. It'd be easiest if someone close by could check it out and let me know, or I would even be willing to meet up with you and go check the bike out - that way I'd also get a first hand look at how to look at bikes.

I'm not asking you to negotiate or bargain on the bike for me, just let me know if it's a good buy or not.

I'm the next town over, and I'd go look, but I'm no mechanic and would only be able to look at the obvious, like tires, exhaust, listen to it run, ect.

And I would think you'd be able to knock some $$ down. Just as a reference, I bought a 97 Katana 600 with about 15K 2 years ago for $1900.

Didn't they make some changes to the EX500 after the late-80's, like bigger wheels, suspension, something like that?

So I asked the guy a few Q's via email and here's what I got from him:

I am the third owner of this bike and do have the title in my hand.. The bike has never been raced or crashed, but I did drop it once.. a dead fall on the driveway... not thing major, but I did manage to crack the front faring... other than that the bike has been free of any accidents through its 3 owners...
