    Foot out in sweepers?!

I finally have a jacket to ride in, so I aired out the 690SMC on 116 today. Pavement was good, but some damp patches lurked in the shadows. I started to throw the foot out and push the bike under and it felt great! Those 2 turns that kinda tighten up mid corner were so easy I almost didn't notice them.

I have to say this bike has one up on a sportbike on New England style roads.

It's like cheating! I was just cruising seeing about 65-70 mph mid corner speeds. I think I startled a few cagers with the foot out though... they don't know if I'm falling or what's going on.

I was working MSF sat, but We'll have to take a street ride sometime.

def, i wanna check that beastie out! perfect machine for those great roads around you.

i had no idea i was headed that way until early Sat AM, put a sweet ~150mi loop together for my neighbor and i to get out and twist a wrist. he was on a HUGE custom Honda cruiser, guess parts were draggin in corner 1. hahaaa! he was wishing he never sold his Duc. EDIT: actually, he went to test ride a SM610 a few weeks ago but they sold it, i think 116 sold him on grabbing one

116 is a great road. be careful on it, though -- i was friends with a guy who was killed on it about 3mo ago. black speed triple. RIP Jarrod.

anyways, since you guys are out there, i made this nifty thing back when i was at school in amherst. absolutely great roads out in that area...

    feel free to use/update it:

Yeah, I'm familiar with the crash and familiar with most every inch of this road. I live right near the bottom of it...

You map is entertaining, but it exposes many roads that I learned to ride on. That's just scratching the surface of the goods around here though...

Dude, this bike has it all over a 600 for street duty! Fast, ground clearance, traction, nimbleness (I routinely bomb around traffic islands and stuff just for fun), brakes, comfort, wheelies, wet performance, etc. etc. It's an UPGRADE

But it doesnt have 150 horsepower! It MUST be a downgrade!

Im totally with you, I love it man, I just laugh when people call it a downgrade.

Haha the last one to say that can actually ride, his quote was, good youre keeping your 636 for when you get bored of this. I think he mightve been kidding, but Im not sure. Either way, I kept both bikes on the road for about a week, then I decided the 636 wouldnt be ridden again, so screw it, took it off the road

I sometimes stick a leg out on my 636 in good fun missing those days of racing motocross. I would love to get out and try a SM, they look like a blast! Hmmm maybe I should just go finance one and take my 636 off the road too!

    Re: Foot out in sweepers?!

A few weeks ago I had to pull out of a side street kinda quick/fast and as I turned left in first gear and took off I threw my foot out (on my 636) by accident...just thinking back to motocross hahaa. People musta been like WTF is that guy doing. I am currently trying to piece together buying a kx450f for motard use...but trying to decide on street or track only.

Feels kinda goofy on a sportbike, doesn't it. It felt great to do this at 70mph. Maybe it's just cause it's a new sensation, but I'm lovin it. I think when I track it, I'll try foot out even in the fast stuff...

That is what I would love to do...but at the moment I want to keep my 636 and making the kxf more than track only will be lot more money getting it 'street legal'. Lastly, the motocross 450s need a fair amount of maintenance if I'm gonna be screwing around on the street/commuting so I am not convinced it is the best idea...though would be fun as all hell.

the only time i put my foot out on the sm is in the dirt.

while the sm is a blast and can carry a lot more corner speed on tight roads for me it's still slow and under powered once the road opens up.

i really liked it on a mix of tight pavement and dirt roads.
now i only like it on dirt roads, but i like the tiger even more.

i think it's time to sell the duke.

anyone looking for a kick ass sm?
