    fuel tank question

i got a bigger fuel tank for the yz450...
it straddles the bike and the sides go pretty low for capacity. that part is fine.

it came with two right angle fittings. each fitting is threaded on one side and barbed on the other for hooking fuel line to.

the directions say to screw one of them into the bottom of each side of the saddle of the tank, and connect them to each other with a piece of fuel line. this is all cool, it will make sure the two sides stay equal with fuel.

the question... how do i just "screw" these things into the plastic of the tank? there are no marks or indicators for where these things go... and i am hesitant to drill holes into a brand new gas tank when i have no experience with these fittings in plastic and am not 100% sure they will seal well?

    fuel tank question

They didn't come with any bulkhead fitting or anything?
Can you reach the bottom of the tank from the filler? I'm guessing not.

    fuel tank question

nope, no bulk head fittings. and ya cant reach it from the filler neck.

its kinda weird, the directions are real specific about everything... except this.

also... the bottom of the tank is just smooth plastic.

and this is the type of fittings it came with.

    fuel tank question

    no its not tapered.

i am gonna hit up the auto parts store on teh way home and see if i can find something that is tapered, or something with a flange so i can get a gasket/o-ring in there.

if not, its just getting teflon taped.

    HA! HA!

Ok i called IMS, they said i got the new tank and the old directions and parts kit. Don't use the goofy old equalizer set up.

    Now for the funny part...

    What the guy said:

they redeisigned these tanks so that every time you accelerate, the gas sloshes back and equalizes itself between the two sides of the tank.

What i heard: Wheely the 'tard out of every stop light.

    fuel tank question

The gas will equalize itself without any fancy insides or equalizer tubes, that stuff splashes all over at the littlest bumps.
I should get something bigger for the KTM
