I think it is great that this is being discussed to such a high level.
To many people on the road with bad habits.
With that said, I think Auto drivers need stricter training too.

I like the graduated or tiered drivers license model.

    100% agree.

There is essentially no training for drivers right now. The bar is set so low it's pretty much a joke.

I scanned through it quickly - pretty cool stuff. I like the idea of tiered licensing and also on the road training... English rider training is already there.

Here is a big problem I see.

Major funding for moto safety is provided by the manufacturers. These people want to sell bikes. Tiered and extensive training is costly and time consuming at the very least. Realistically it will make it harder to sell bikes and the big companies will resist.

Who is going to pay for this stuff, to develop and implement it? I would guess the bike makers will be picking up the tab here and will want it tailored to getting more riders on the road.

Big business is just that - $ money. Are they going to want to spend more $ for potentially less sales??

Aside from that, these guys are the start of what I believe will lead to a better generation of drivers.

It still blows my mind, that at least in theory a new rider can go and take their permit test at the DMV, turn around and buy a 'Busa the very same day.

World apart from the UK system where I first qualified.

Isn't that the only way to ... "use all that power"

I see an opportunity to sell MORE bikes.

Buy a 250 - put your time in and upgrade to a 600 - put your time in and upgrade to liter bike.

I mean the permit test, not the licence test. The touch screen questions-only permit test.

I'd love to take dirt riding classes, mostly because I think it would be a blast, but I also feel there is a lot to be learned from it. The BMW ones look sweet, but damn they are expensive.

You Sir know nothing of true greatness. I of course refer to ones ability to steal, drink and generally do nothing, and carry it off with style

I'm with you on that one. I've looked into the CornerSpin school...
