As of today it should be almost completely done, I think all they have left is painting new lines on it, and thats about it, brand new asphalt all the way from the Deerfield/Conway town line just about into the center of Ashfield.

    Sweet!

Give it a few good rain storms before you push it through there. New asphalt is usually very greasy and I'm sure you don't feel like dropping the bike again!

    SA-WEETNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hhmm.....next week = me on vacation.

I get the feeling I may just have to force myself up that way and perform a thorough inspection of all road surfaces.

It will prolly be lined with PoPo too. The local Leo's know that a road like 116 newly paved will attract.....................well...............people that want to enjoy the road

    So, be warned.

Staties hardly ever patrol it, and the town cops mostly stick to the center of town. I drive the area for work on a nearly daily basis, I'll let you know if the LEO presence seems to have increased. The only real spots to watch out for are the pulloffs where the guardrails swing out wide, and there are paved rest areas. There is one just after you start up from Deerfield on the left, and another one just before you hit the rt. 9/116 junction just south of Ashfield.

Yeah, I've heard newly paved roads are pretty slick, give it a few rains and let the cagers put down some rubber on the road and it'll be awesome.

I've been on 116 a fair amount of times and i'd say 8 out of 10 times, i've seen/passed staties. Maybe the weekends are different from the work week when you travel it? Seen/been stopped by the townies as well quite often in years past

116 north of ashfield has it's share of coppers, but usually, the stretch south of ashfield is clear.

I think the big danger is trucks pulling out of those rest stops. Lots of blue collar types seem to pull off for lunch, or a smoke, or...something, and if you're rippin around a bend as they get back on the road it'll be game over.

Didn't we need to pull that little evasive pit-stop on 116 (with OtherSean) becuase of cops trying to nail us?

Oh man, I rode that last weekend when it was half done. The gravely part sucked, but oh man, once I hit that fresh pavement...

That road is a fucking racetrack. Period. Wish I lived closer.

I went out and checked it out on the bike for myself tonite. I kept myself behind cages to prevent myself from even getting the slightest notion of kicking it up a notch, as you could see the road is still pretty greasy. The road is almost completely done, save for a .9 mile stretch just outside the center of Ashfield. Theres a few tiny bumps in the road where they started a new batch of pavement here and there, but otherwise the road is even wider than it was, and totally flawless.

Lots of little rocks/tar chunks left in the road after paving, so keep your eyes open.

I laid down some rubber on it this evening. I let it rip in a vintage mini my friend just built for a customer. He lost his license, so I'm the test and tune driver.

Definitely still some loose gravel flinging up, but it felt real sticky on four fat 13x7 inch tires. We videoed the run. I'll post a link when it's up on his site...

I noticed you have a new mini. I've got a 77. My wife has dibs on testing all new hop-up parts.

    Check it out...

    That is freakin' SWWEETTT!!!!!!!

Would you have any interest in this? (look under the 3rd annual Rally and Toy Run)

I ran it last year and it was loads of fun. I tried to fill my Mini completely with toys, but it's amazing just how much stuff you can actually put inside this little car. I've already registered for this year's Toy run (minicrazed).
