I love the looks of the FZ1. I also prefer half naked bikes with streetwise ergos over the race ergo's. Here is my question.

Does anyone here own or have owned or have ridden the FZ1? What is your opinion about it.

I will be taking a long ride on a friends this weekend through route 2 in mass to see if it is the bike I really want. The only gripe I can think of at the moment is the fact that they refuse to make it fuel injection. I can live with that but what other areas should I be concerned about on that bike?

The FZ1 doesn't do much for me. It makes a lot of power, yes. It's probably a great all-rounder but it just doesn't trigger that emotional response that makes me buy motorcycles. If I wanted a more upright bike I'd get either a Triumph Speed Triple, a Ducati Monster S4R ($$), or maybe the Aprilia Tuono (though I don't think it is very good looking, I've never seen one in person).

I went to greenfield mass today and hooked up with a friend who has two FZ1's. We went down route two into New york put 200 miles on them at a very quick pace. That bike could not be shook and the power was great. It just felt right. I made my own opinion today and I can tell you that the FZ1 can really run.

Sorry Mark. I will not be going with the Tuono. I found a great deal on a black FZ1 left over at Enfield motor sports. I will be paying about half of the Tuono's price.

All the highway riding on route 2, I would of taken a twisty route instead. Sounds like an FZ1...personally I prefer the ZRX1200 though

Just my opinion the black and yellow is nasty as hell...good choice on the straight up black...

Thanks for the input gonzo. I Managed to get $1,300.00 off of the original price which is a feet considering how hard it is to barter with bike dealers. I will be picking it up on thursday. I am just putting my bike back to stock right now. So siked.

It's a beauty. He'll be breaking it in on Saturday. Can't wait to go out for the nice ride. Thank god I don't have to ride pillion. That bike sucks for passengers...unless you're really short.

Nice job on the FZ1. My buddy has one and I've managed quite a bit of saddle time on it. He's putting 135 hp down at the rear wheel with Ivan's jet kit and an Akropovic pipe. (Which sounds VERY nice I might add.) He just got his rear shock resprung and revavled.. the stock rear shock is a pos.. seriously.. unless you weigh like 80 lbs.. His new shock makes the bike feel AWESOME.. he also has the titanium bars which I like alot better than stock.. all and all the bike is good for just about anything..

I agree with the bars. They are much too high. The motor walks all over my built SVS motor like roadkill. I feel like my SVS was a scooter compared to this. I love the bike. The damn thing just moves out like no tommorrow. The best part is the fact that my insurance only went up $57.00 from the SVS.
