Thumbs down garage break-in season has started

    Missing and presumed fenced:
    - aged-out Arai Profile
    - 4 19" rims w/tires abandoned by friend's cheating ex-bf
    - 2 studio monitor speakers
    - ...and the new track gloves I just finished breaking in.

    MFers.

I'm going to invest in some concrete-capable drill bits, and install some sort of beefier lock system on the door. I'm pretty sure anyone with a pry-bar can just bend back the jamb and swing the door open when the knob is locked.

Haha, the thought did cross my mind. I'm going to upgrade the locks and whatever, but honestly the ride in was too awesome this morning for me to achieve giving-a-shit about the gloves.

If you want, I can rig you up an alarm system. Basic, to the point. Motion detector with a hidden kill switch and a 30 second delay to deactivate the 130 dB electric buzzer. All you need is 120v electrical to run it.

    For a price, of course.

May very well take you up on that after I get the door security sorted.

It helps by buzzing extremely loud. No one is hanging around for that.

Wow that sucks. I've had my car looted several times, and while I was moving out of Portland someone stole my '93 Dodge Stealth out of my driveway.

Nest or similar system. I want HD video evidence to prosecute anyone stupid enough to fuck with my shit. Being stolen from is one of the worst feelings. Fuck thieves.

ya...I have old POS stuff and it still gets stolen

someone stole my '95 FZR600 right off the street in long beach!

but the headlights didn't work, the brakes were crunchy, the rear seat lock was broken, and using the choke made it harder to start...so they left it on pacific coast highway and I got it back

    +1.

A siren/alarm on a 30 second delay means they get to keep whatever they can grab in 45 seconds.

Can't believe you got it back, nice.

Now I'm thinking back and realizing I've been robbed quite a bit. Had a Specialized Hard Rock (my first real MTB, years ago). Someone nabbed it from outside my house, but at the time I had the front axle removed so I've always imagined them getting a mile down the road then flipping end over end when the wheel flew off. Makes me feel better.

Had $200 stolen from a guy I gave a ride to Lewiston, stopped to mess with my car and he fled with it. Should have figured, it being Lewiston and all.

My ex-landlord's crazy wife stole my Fender and a bunch of DVDs, walked right into my apartment when I was gone and took them. Her husband brought the guitar back begging for forgiveness, never saw the DVD's again.

When I was a teenager, I KNOW my sister stole my favorite hat, but to this day she won't admit it.

    Security cameras

one of the organizations I belong to uses game cameras to monitor illegal dumping and have used photos for successful prosecution

no hard wire or internet or recording device needed, batteries have lasted up to a year
