Has anyone seen the drama on Craigslist about Greater Boston Motorsports?
Check it out, you'll get a kick out of it....

I have seen quite a few writeups on GBM on CL. SOme people have been very unhappy with them and now have places to rant about it.
I personally have had no issues with attitude and a couple of the parts guys are pretty nice but they do have a problem stocking the parts I need though. So I do not go there unless I have too.
Jamie
GBM has to be the one shop that always gets ranted about. There is rarely any middle ground.
A LOT of people have had poor experiences there. This cannot be a coincidence.
Putting his hands in the air, like he just doesn't care.

I have no experience with sales or service but like Jamie said the Parts guys seem ok. I was just there yesterday picking up some filters...although I did overhear one of them tell a customer that his order was "still not in" and "LP is always like that".
good... hopfully more people will start seeing those notices & stay away from that place and they'll either go under for a better business to take it's place or change their approach to customer service... only reasons why i've gone to Cycles 128 is to see if they had stuff i could try on & buy online
but... to give them credit, they DID have ONE new salesperson who had JUST started working there... my buddy & I were checkin out some bikes out front just for shits & giggles when he came out... we told him straight out we weren't gonna buy anything that day, but wanted to chat... it was dead at the time & he was bored so we talked shit for 15 minutes or so... seemed like a good kid, reasonably knowledgable (but did make some comments i disagreed w/). hopfully they haven't turned him into a robot yet, but i'm sure they have.
TLRMan also has a buddy that works there that he chatted with for a long time... he seemed like he was at least a motorcycle enthusiast & seemed to know what he was talkin about.
but those two things are the only good thing i have to say about that place.

did you read the rebutal from the manager? i didn't see anything about "customers are always right". i got gloves and lock from them before but it's like shopping at wal-mart, just hi and ho..
"fuckit!"
I am not sure what the deal is.
I got 2 bikes from them, both under MSRP. I had to haggle but I got the bikes out the door at good prices. Now I was not doing "extreme" financing or anything like that, so maybe that contributed.
I've had a bunch of service work done there, and they have always done it flawlessly as far as I can tell for a fair price. And the really awesome thing is their service turnaround is FAST. It's like a car dealership. They do not expect you to drop off the bike and leave it for a couple days. You make an appointment, they have all the parts ready, you ride in, they do the job, you ride home. I haven't really had that experience anywhere else.
The selection of gear is totally ho-hum, and the parts are the same ripoff as just about every other japanese bike dealer. The people have always been really nice, and they seem to have free pizza and stuff like that almost every time I go in.
However every time I go in there are a bunch of 18 year olds casing the place trying to find out if they can get a GSX-R 1000 as a first bike with a $1 down payment, acting like tards trying to sit on all the bikes, maybe that is the type of person who is bitching and complaining on craigslist. At that age it is doubtful very many of them no how to play the "get a good deal" game, and 18 year olds aren't exactly good at building/maintaining a business relationship.
I just do not get why people expect salespeople to just "hook them up" with a deal without any effort on their part. I'll take haggling and getting a better price versus "no haggle" and paying the same as everyone else any day.
Same thing with parts. We are buying obscure parts that 99.999% of the American population will never have any reason to buy, the parts are made on the other side of the world, and there are not that many of them, why do you expect every store to have the parts in stock or be able to locate them instantly? You are not getting F-150 parts here....
I thought all dealerships sucked?
In RI Ive dealt with 3. Honda Suzukiworld in Warwick and Bobby D's in Warwick both blow ass.
Razee's in North Kingstown is the place to go in my opinion
Expect to pay 150% on any part in stock or needing to be ordered, and don't expect good help. I wouldn't buy a quart of oil from them.
KB went so far as to call them everyday give them a big long list of parts that he needed to order and when the guy would ask him his name or for his deposit credit card he'd call him an asshole and tell him to fuck off. Pretty sure this went on for a while. I smile each time I hear of the roxbury kids breaking in and stealing their bikes.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Sounds like your buds are a bunch of tools who have way too much free time if they bother to harass a parts guy that much.
It is not rocket science. Warehouse space costs $$$$. Shipping & locating parts costs $$$. No local place is ever going to be able to have good prices on parts. You make a business calculation based on how often you sell certain things. You sell oil every day, you sell common drain plugs, brake pads, etc.. all the time. You don't sell cams or bearings or carbs for 10 year old bikes often enough to keep them in stock or be able to offer a good price.
Be thankful if you need a part from them it's 150% of the online price. It's 200-300% on lots of bicycle parts. Doesn't change the fact that the local place still has something to offer. If you need to "make it work" you're going to get much better service from your local people than the online place.
If someone can't "hook you up" you can take your business somewhere else but harassing some poor parts guy accomplishes absolutely nothing.

so why is it ok for a bunch of hoodlums to steal a bike from a dealer and not you?Originally posted by hessogood

The attitude delivered is in response to the attitude and treatment given. I don't say shit like 'too bad for you' or 'tough luck' to anyone in my business enviorment. Those assholes can lick my ass and what I'm saying is I take enjoyment when someone fucks them for a change. i live 2 miles from GBM and if and when I order through a dealership I order from one 45 miles away from my house, because I get treated correctly and they charge MSRP instead of MSRP plus whatever they feel like adding on.
And Ben, nice of you to speak up with your all too familiar condescending tone. Since when do you know what my experiences are, what parts I've been looking for and what I've encountered at their shop. Since when do you know about how a shop is run and what their expenses and cost breakdowns are. I never said a word about online comarison pricing, so like always it's nice of you to tak eyour perception of the situation and twist it to fit the arguement you would like to have. And my friend the 'tool' is an active member here and personal friends with a number of other members here including the site owner. I'd reccomend not calling people names over the internet.
I think I'm done venting now. I know I'm not the only one sick of your holier than though attitude, just to make you aware if you weren't already.

Hey.. you should obviously start your own dealership in Arlington, since the rules of business and math don't seem to apply to you.
When you start up your shop and everything is 1/2 MSRP, and you have the parts for every bike ever made in your closet at cost, I will happilly support your business. (At least until the bank forecloses on you)
Hey, do you and your bright light friends harass the grocery stores and gas stations for ripping you off too? If I drive to Maine I can get a killer deal on Lobster, if I drive to Nebraska I can get corn way cheaper then the grocery store around the corner. Man the grocery store guys here in town are a bunch of pricks ripping us off! Same thing, if I ride my bike down to NJ I can get a way better deal on gasoline too! I'm going to start throwing eggs at the gas station around the corner from me!
I could care less if someone is a member here. I'll say it again. If you call some parts guy every day just to harass him over a price he can't even set, you are a tool.![]()
bens just a liberal, he always sticks up for the other side, no mater what side it is, he is always for the other side
it's got to be more personal than just a price.Originally posted by benVFR

Ben, you too my friend are a tool, lets just leave it at that. As far as running a business what experiance with cost vs. retail do you have? I don't have that much but my job I see the stores I deal with make nothing on the machines they sell, but they make it up in warranty, and add-on items. So if I goto razees and buy a bike I get a good deal on i.e. MSRP or lower and they give me 15% of anything I buy for 1 yr and they have the lowest prices in the area(40 miles) they will get more of my business then the fuck that is 2 miles down the road.

Nah SEVENS, I agree with some of his points, like parts prices, but there is little you can do about it. Nothing you can do can change the fact that if you open a shop 50 miles outside of Boston, you are paying 1/4 the price for the land, you can afford to warehouse the bikes on the premises, and you can pay your employees a lot less. It is simple math. GBM's lot is probably a 7 figure property, and they can't even store the bikes indoors it's so small. Of course setup is going to cost more when they have to have a separate building to uncrate the bikes. Everything is expensive in the city.
And I DID buy 2 bikes below MSRP from those guys, so it is not impossible to do.
Oh and they are also such assholes that they've let me test ride bikes!![]()
I'm done here, I'm not argueing with someone who responds to what they make up instead of what I write. If you'd like to throw some more names around try doing it in person with you're 140 lb ass to cover you instead of a computer keyboard. I'm two towns over if you ever feel the need to do so.

point taken, but to charge more then 100% of parts from LP, or such(don't think they don't have a deal even though you can order dirct) isn't cool. The more you buy from a manufacturer, the less you pay per item, it's like that anywhere. GBM is, as I understand, a big company with multiple locals right? If so thier buying power when making a deal is much better then you buying direct.
And did you buy both VFR's from them, cause I coulda gotten the same below MSPR for a cult bike like that, and you know it. Try to get a 1000RR from them below MSRP I dare ya
