the RC i bought already had the gear changes 15/42? what the point of changeing the gearin? when you go up in the front and in the rear it changes how snapy it is at lower speeds? when u changeing the gearing do you lose high end torque or power? and a random question. whats the top speed on the RC? mine seems to be maxin out at like 130(not that i drive it that fast) and 6th gear seems useless. thats why i was curious about gearing. thx guys -Smokey
down in front or up in rear= less top speed but more acceleration (wheelies and such debauchary)
up in front or down in rear= more top speed but a little slower acceleration
1 tooth in front is = to about 2-3 in the rear.
thas why stunters have such HUGE rear sprockets.....
130 seems slow for an RC, does take off like a bat out of hell? and do you have problems keeping the front wheel down under hard acceleration in lower gears? if so then change it up. the front is cheaper to change than the rear. $12-18 for front or $40-50 for rear
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...

I had 176mph showing on half-squid's RC51 (when it was mine). I'm guessing a real 155mph or so
ok where do I start...
First off the rc stock gearing 16/40 is very tall for the bike. Makes it a bit on the sluggish side. Im running 15/42 and I have 0 issues with keeping the front down even under hard acceleration. A lot will do 15/41 as well. Not as radical but it makes it a brand new bike.
The speedo is notoriously inaccurate. Do yourself a favor. Go to www.rc51.org and start poking around the mods section. Its free. If you want to see the message boards that will run you 20 for a lifetime membership. Its well worth it with the info you will get there. Degsy will agree.
Anyway to fix the speedo because afte ryou change sprokets its going to be worse buy yourself a speedo healer. www.jahlmandesign.com. I have one in my rc and it works fine.
with 15/42 gearing the top speed is around 150-160. Even with the 15/40 in the rc you arent going to break any speed records. The bike wasnt made for straightline speed. Its made for corners.
