getting a motorcycle on the rear stand by yourself

I've been looking to purchase a pitbull motorcylce stand for my F4I and hopefully another bike soon...thus my question, how do you get a motorcycle on the rear stand by yourself? specially with a non-spooled swingarm like the ones on the F4i.....one stand that has a SS (standard and spooled) would be the most economical but still the question of how to get the motorcylce on that thing by yourself?

Put the front tire in the sport bike chock. Go to rear and lift it with the rear stand. Done.

Hey, since Honda doesn't run spools you have to get one that lifts at the swing arm or have tabs welded on or Tap and thread the swing arm for spools (kit they sell). I just bought a set off ebay for Cheap...they work just as good as my Woodcraft. The trick is to get it all set with some help first...then its easy you just leave it on the kick stand, roll the stand under it, holding the tail, bring it vertical and lift....I can get the info for the stands if you want they were under a 100 for the two....

also I have some F4i stuff B-new in the Box for sale also Cheap.....since I sold mine..

Here is the same set, price and seller I got mine from....good deal for sure they are not cheezy at all...

Re: getting a motorcycle on the rear stand by yourself

Check out the Power Stands brand of stands. I have the this and it works great for one person to lift the bike. I stand the bike up, grab the front brake with my left hand and just use my body weight to move the stand arm down. Another reason I like this stand is I don't weigh a whole lot, so the long arm of the stand gives me a lot more control and leverage over the Pit Bulls I've used.

Re: getting a motorcycle on the rear stand by yourself

just put the stand behind the bike with the pads roughly in position, raise the bike off the sidestand so it's upright, put one hand on top of the tail (don't grab too tight, just keep the bike centered), walk around back and lift it onto the stand.

The key is to relax and use balance, not force to keep the bike upright.

Search Ebay Stores for t-rexstands.I can't say enough about this guys stands, I found them a few years back when I first got the F4i. Just can't beat the price for front and rear stand and the build quality is excellent. For spooled and non-spooled swingy's. As far as getting the bike up these guys nailed it, just takes some feel. Get the stand roughly in position on the swingarm to take the load off your left arm balancing the bike, line her up and push down. easy easy.

Re: getting a motorcycle on the rear stand by yourself

I have never had an issue getting my bike on and off the rear stand. I would second the t-rexstands comment as well. Love it.

I just put the stand under the back aligned with the bike angle as it is on the side stand, then I push down on the stand handle with one hand on the back of the bike to steady it and up the bike pops on the stand nice and smooth. Basically you use the stand like a lever. No need to straighten the bike up first, the stand will straighten it as you push the handle down. Nothing to it

Front stand just make sure the back is already on the back stand then do almost the same except push the front stand under as you push it down rather then letting the bike roll onto the stand. May wanna have someone spot the bike the first few times, as personally I have found that at least on my bike the front stand can be trickier then the back. Others may not agree, but that has just been my experience. Either way, unless you want to drop your bike don't put it on the front stand without a back stand in place unless you are a hell of a lot of careful :p

Re: getting a motorcycle on the rear stand by yourself

Check out the pitbull one armed rear stands...

Buy nothing from powerstands (PSR) they are ripping off someone else's idea - just find out who makes what they are copying and buy it from them.

I've had my pitbulls forever and just got another. I just put the bike on the sidestand, walk around back and line up one side of the stand with the swingarm, once its all straight I tilt the bike to it's center as I push the stand down so it meets the stand and then push the stand to the ground - lifting the bike.

The F4i should be a cinch...my old 929 couldn't have spools AND it had a lopsided swingarm that we had to get a stupid shim for to use with the PB stands...ugh.

The 1000rr will be much easier...buy a pitbull SS stand so you can flip the holders around to be padded or spooled.

I use the Pitbull forward lever stand and all you do is stand on the side of the bike, position the stand on the spools (or on the swingarm, if you don't have spools), grab the front brake and lower the lever. This stand is excellent if you don't have a lot of room behind the bike.

    Easy, peasy, Japanesey

+1 to the T-Rex stands, Expat has those and they're really nice, and an additional +1 on just staying easy and keeping the bike balanced!

Re: getting a motorcycle on the rear stand by yourself

For the race bike I use the same technique that Paul and Tricky Mike mentioned. For the street bikes in the garage, I have a small piece of wood I use as a shim under the kickstand. It puts the bike almost straight up and down so I can pop the stand under the swingarm...works great

It's not so much being a wimp as it is being lazy!! I could have said I put it on the centerstand and then put the rear stand under it, but I figured that wouldn't apply to the sportbikes as much

No no no Brian. Your idea was good!

I was referring to the original poster who hadn't thought of your idea.
