Re: Girls and Bikes SEXY!! (your bikes to little)
Clearly you've never seen downtown Springfield.
It's not GOOD civilization... but it's civilization... sort of...

Really? And a two year old thread is where you decided to make that proclamation?

An ACTIVE thread thread is where I decided to make that proclamation, but yes, apparently it is.

Re: Girls and Bikes SEXY!! (your bikes to little)
Women.....ride....motorcycles?? I didn't know they were allowed.
KIDDING! I am not a misogynist, I just play one on NESR.
Seriously though, in the Boston area, I've only ever seen one female riding a motorcycle. I have to beg and plead to get my female friends to even go for a ride; most are scared to death of the things, usually because they went for one ride where the rider (always a guy) rode like an asshole and ruined motorcycles for them.
Good to know that lady riders are out there somewhere...
Also, people who care about the displacement of other people's motorcycles are lame.

Re: Girls and Bikes SEXY!! (your bikes to little)
I use my bike as my daily commuter to Springfield, and when I'm in the elevator in the office building I work in, I always run into women who see my helmet and gear and say that they just bought a bike, or their husband or bf just bought them one. Never seem to see them out riding though.
Seems like we have a decent number of female bike OWNERS, just not as many actual RIDERS.

You should hang out at NESR more often. There are plenty of chicks who ride here ;)
And you're right about displacement... I know people who can run circles around 1098's on SV's... HP's and cc's don't mean shit if you can't ride it :teehee:

In all seriousness, I've found that having a touring-type machine and/or backrest helps to ease that fear. It's a perception thing I suppose because, as we all know, anything of recent build can get up and go really fast really quickly.
I've had the honor of converting a few ladies back from being scared shitless about motorcycles. It's all about the pilot which dictates how a passenger feels about...well.....being a passenger.

to my knowledge she has never been on the back of a motorcycle before and is reasoning based on stuff she has heard in the media and from other people
anyway, i really find it hard to believe that u saw only 1 female motorcyclist in the boston area..........
Female friend....at WPI?? What? I went to WPI. I think I saw a girl once, but I might have been tripping on mushrooms at the time.
Anyway, even if a person hasn't had a bad motorcycle passenger experience, you're right, many hear horror stories about it, and are reticent to give it a try themselves.
Hey, I'm just saying what I've seen. It was just a couple weeks ago, too...

Buying another bike is not an option =)
I gave my downstairs neighbor a ride a few weeks back, and she texts me a couple times a week asking when we can go again. I'll convert the rest of my fearsome friends...all it takes is one ride.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to convey.
Bike for bike, you have a better chance of getting a bike-fearing passenger on that Trumpet of yours simply because it doesn't have the same appearance as the other sport machines from the Big Four....it's an underdog of sorts because it says "Triumph" on it.
Also, what I meant to convey is there's a certain perception of a level of safety/ responsibility, if you will, in a machine such as a sport tour machine. Everyone reads the papers and the media has blown up sport bikes in particular to look like a bike of impending doom, when in reality, it's the pilot not the bike.
Sure, crashes are certainly not limited to sport machines and Harleys only....the difference is, the media takes the sport bike crashes and runs with them every single time, never fail.
Yes, ultimately it all comes down to the pilot and with that, there's a certain perception tied into what that pilot chooses ride for a motorcycle.

I dunno, I think for most people who don't know anything about motorcycles, a sportbike is a sportbike is a sportbike...looking quickly, the 675 doesn't look any different than a modern Kwak/Yammy/Zook. Looking harder, I tend to think it looks more 996-ish, if anything. But hey, if you're right, I'll use that to my advantage!
Anyway, I got your point. It's also difficult to convey facetiousness. =)
Check my reply to CBR_Knight...To start with, the perception of sportbike riders portrayed by the media is definitely poor, and furthermore there are plenty of people with negative personal experiences due to some douchebag trying to show off for their passenger.
