    GODDAMN CARBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sonsabitches!!!!!!....... did a 200+ mile run to the vanilla bean over the weekend, no problems what so ever. went to take the bike out today for a toot around town, turned on the fuel petcock fired up the bike went inside for my gloves came out.... A FUCKIN PUDDLE OF GAS!!!! . now i got to take them apart clean them up. not that its hard to do but its such a pain in the ass to get them out lol. well while im at it im going to re sync them once they are cleaned and possibly put on some pod filters and re-do the jets hmmmm. i got to stop thinking about it cause it might turn into a 2 week long project of adding new shit lol. not that i wouldnt mind but i dont think the wife would be to pleased lol

ok im done ranting, carry on with your day.

    Re: GODDAMN CARBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've run into that with my KZ1000P. I call it the puddle of mud (Oil/Gas Mix). I think for mine, it was a float getting stuck on the #1 carb.

I've replaced the vacuum petcock with a pingel on/off petcock and stopped worrying about it. I did have the carbs rebuilt recently (didn't want to try and do it myself).

    Good luck!

You didn't by chance, oh I dunno, turn it to prime instead of on?

Nothing like firing up the bike or sled, have it start then die.......then kick it over / pull the starter cord for half an hour gettin all pissed...then realize the fuel is off

    Never done that before

    Re: GODDAMN CARBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh...well then that sucks. Been there done that, including pulling them apart to clean them and so on. At least nothing caught ablaze.

I know a guy who had a similar problem on a snowmobile, except it stuck while he was riding. About all that was left, was the engine and melted bent skid-rails (rear suspension) the rest of the sled melted or burnt.

So with that said, it could have been a bit worse for ya

Man, I musta been big time lucky with my NighthawkS. I never had em tuned, sync'd and fed them nothing but mid-grade gas and a bottle of Techron in the spring. I had that bike 23 years and around 80 or 85 thousand miles. Never paid any attention to them..

Mind the "air plugs". If those are old/cracked, you'll run lean.

I've replaced every replaceable part in my 750's carbs. If you need help, feel free to ask.

Then we should do a 750F SS ride!

    Re: GODDAMN CARBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are supposed to get the bike running, loosen the bolts, then tighten back down after running for a minute or two. I just did it on mine last week, but now I have to check the #1 carb float again.
