I'm not miserable. I have an awesome wife, a great son, a decent job (except for the travel), a nice home, access to 2 nice bikes and a new car.

Plus I have several friends and have met some great people through riding.

I just shoot misery your way. Just because. (Well, not just because, we pretty much know the reasons. I just don't feel like repeating them.)

Sunnyvale is pretty nice. Not very exciting, but neither are the surrounding towns. It is busy enough and certainly not rural.

Tear those roads up!. My sister has lived in SF for several years but now has a crazy mortgage in San Rafael. She packed everthing up and went on her own to San Francisco and has no regrets. My favorite was Marin. Lots of micro brews and awesome roads. The twisty shit going to some of the beaches are awesome once you get passed the beach peepers. I choose to live in the sticks but I will say SF and areas north impressed me.

One note: California women are totally fucking insane. Define it as you want, they're nuts. And the cougars are wantan Just have a blast, let the money be second. It all works out.

Good luck with the job. I too have some friends who live in San Raphael and love it. The SF/Bay area is expensive, but rent there/NYC/Boston is all the same - in sane. Still worth it compared to some of those mortgages. The roads are amazing for motorcyclists.
