It's big
and slow
and gloriously excessive
and when I drop it into gear, I'm required to yell, "Tally Ho!"

To complete the picture I'm looking at Aluma folding trailers to reorient my summer trips around a long day's drive to a destination and then multiple riding days working out of one location. While I still love long days the time and distance on slab to get away from the I95 east coast nightmare has lost its appeal
One day to the smokies, ride for 5, one day back
Repeat for three other destinations and it's a perfect summer

That makes me feel better, because you are younger and ride a lot! You were pretty much a kid back when SuperDave was leading rides and you were 2 up on a monster.
It was the first time I ever heard that dry clutch, you know, where the bike is doing exactly what the Italians intended and it also sounds like it’s about to implode!

This is a map of the target zone, a 700 mile radius from home. Despite all the water to the east, there is a huge amount of fun places in this one-day-drive circle.
I too am sick of the hop through CT, NYC and DC. A few years ago we did a 3k ride to Bennington VT by way of Cherokee NC. The first day was a slog to VA, outside of DC. Guy leading (markbvt) is my hero with respect to route planning. But that first day just sucked. That experience taught me that if the best nose I know for finding back roads can't find an enjoyable way to VA, then it just doesn't exist.
Go north, go west, or load up the trailer. Makes sense to me.
So is that a triumph thunderbird ??
95 is a nightmare all the way south to DC and getting from my location north of traffic through Boston is usually dreadful. The pike is OK, but too often there’s back ups on the return trip east. All these roads, on their best days, are boring slogs and on their worst a multi-hour-root-canal.
Backroads are often no better because their generally short, peppered with stoplights and traffic until you really get out i the boonies.
I find that the day 1 ride out is tolerable because I’m excited about the trip, but getting stuck in shitty traffic on the return day is a bag of suck.
I think the trailer will improve the riding fun/nofun ratio considerably.
It’s fun to stop and rack the throttle and feel the bike twitch right.

You want excessive? How's 210-265 hp sound?

Took the road king out this weekend for a couple hours, over to Toymakers Cafe and back...yep, still love it.
I have less than 100 miles on mine and the 20-day temp tags are nearly used up. Pretty sad
Digging those miles though. Think I'm going to be pretty happy riding that 800 lbs gorilla
How to tell you are in the HD dealer clothing section, specifically Texas Harley Davidson in Fort Worth, a huge dealership. They have about 50 shirts, all available in S, M, and 3-5X. They had a special: buy six for $175.

I was in Green Bay a few years back and texted my wife that I look like a marathon runner compared to the folks out there
