Shame to see contour go. Far superior technology, poor marketing. Almost zero mounts.

Its a class 10, purchased from GoPro directly.

Not only didi I format it, but it needed to be formatted twice, luckily I had the videos that were still on the camera copied to my pc, because it wouldnt record the 2nd time I tried to use it until I formatted it again...

if you have a defective unit, like i did, they'll replace it.

FYI, i dont think they sell memory cards.

love my Hero3, did my updates etc, camera works the balls.

they offer the memory cards right on their website.

i just use their recommended card (sandisk)

and i have used the regular class 4 card and the class 10... my camera runs more hot with a class4 and i occasionally get the choppy fucked up video... i have yet to have that issue on a class 10 card.

Wonder if they are going to keep the Storyteller website up?
BTW- anyone got a Contour camera or mounts for sale?

    Re: GoPro Hero3

I got my dad out for a session yesterday. My Hero 3 stopped taking video after about 10 seconds. We were pretty bummed since it was his first time on a bike on a track. Until I format the card it won't take anything longer than an 8-15 second video. Second time its happened. Class 10 card, not sure of the brand.

And the update for the camera reset everything so after rushing to get it loaded on I didn't realize my last 3.5 hours of video were shot in 960

PNY. Its the one the guy recommended to my wife when she bought it for me. I'm actually looking for SanDisk cards as we speak. Seems to be the only cause people agree on for that problem, and formatting the card fixed it last time.

get the Samsung model listed on their website.
i'm typically a Kingston snob for memory, but went with one from the supported list off the Hero3 website.

I don't know how you label Contour as "far superior tech". Almost every review I have ever read or seen has rated the GoPro cameras as having better video quality.
The external UI is a wash IMHO: The Contour on/off switch is super easy to use. But the Contour cannot change modes without involving a PC and there is almost zero feedback as to what mode it is recording in.

As for mounts. The Contour has a 1/4-20 thread in the bottom. This opens it up to infinite traditional camera mounts, plus RAM mounts.

I bought a Contour because it was $90 from Amazon one xmas season. But I have always wanted a GoPro instead.

My cheap contour roam for 89.99 deal on amazon has worked every single time. I can't say that about my far superior gopro. I don't even bring it along any more because I expect a lock up. Latest firmware and another memory card from sandisk.

That I can get down with I suppose. It is aluminum and pretty solid. My camera survived pavement surfing at NHMS.

    Re: GoPro Hero3

Maybe you should just call Gopro?

    SD Card Recommendations

It's important to use one of the recommended SD cards in your camera, or you may experience freeze-up or video corruption issues.

We recommend only purchasing name brand SD cards through reputable resellers. There are both counterfeit and underperforming SD cards out in the marketplace, which can prevent proper functioning of your HD HERO camera's features.

Here are the SD card requirements for each camera:

    HERO3: Black Edition Camera
•A Class 10 MicroSD card up to 64 GB is required.

Not all Class 10 microSD cards have the same data write speeds. If you plan to shoot in 4k, 2.7k, or Protune video modes with your HERO3: Black Edition camera, we recommend using one of the following microSD cards for the best performance:
    •Lexar 32GB SDHC 600x (LSDMI32GBSBNA600R)
    •Lexar 64GB SDXC 300x (LSDMI64GBBNL300R)
    •Delkin 32GB SDHC (DDMICROSDPRO2-32GB)
    •Delkin 64GB SDXC (DDMICROSDPRO264GB)
    •Samsung 64GB SDXC (MB-MGCGB/AM)

With the camera software update released July 29, 2013, using other microSD cards with your HERO3: Black Edition camera while shooting in 4K, 2.7K and Protune video modes may result in a reduction of the data stream rate from 45Mb/sec to 35Mb/sec.

For HERO3 Silver and White Editions, any class 10 microSD cards can be used, including SanDisk Ultra and Lexar.

    HERO3: Silver Edition Camera
•A Class 4 MicroSD card up to 64 GB is required.

•A Class 10 MicroSD card up to 64 GB is required for 0.5 sec Time-lapse, 10/1 Photo Burst, and Protune.

    HERO3: White Edition Camera
•A Class 4 MicroSD card up to 64 GB is required.
•A Class 10 MicroSD card up to 64 GB is required for 0.5 sec Time-lapse.

    HD HERO2 Camera
•A Class 4 SD card up to 32 GB is required.
•A Class 10 SD card up to 32 GB is required to use 0.5 sec Time-lapse, 10/1 Photo Burst, and Protune.

HD HERO Original Camera & HD HERO 960 Camera
•A Class 4 SD card up to 32 GB is required.
