    GP shift on a Superhawk?

I'm not sure if this should be in the Maintanence section, but:

Does anyone here have GP style shifting (press down to shift up, up for down)on their superhawk? I've done most of my riding this year at the track on my racebike, which has it. I took my superhawk out yesterday, I was messing up all over the place and stalled it a ton of times by trying to start off in 2nd. It took too much time to get used to the GP style shifter in the first place, I'm not switching back. It doesn't look possible to just reverse the shifter arm (no room). I don't have any experience in welding aluminum, but I'm thinking I'll need to cut and re-weld the shift lever. Any ideas?
