    GPS lap timer suggestions?

Looking for a GPS timer that can give me on board times while providing segmented times for each part of the track and compatible with macs. Suggestions?

he has the Qstarz with the screen not the cheap one (which is still good but info has to be downloaded to a computer to see anything). I had one and my new one should be here tomorrow. its very nice.

    Re: GPS lap timer suggestions?

I suggested the LT-Q6000 because that is what I'm running this season and I love it so far. Paul got to use it as well when he was out on the 125, and he seems to have liked it according to his above comment.

Oh, and there are no beacons to forget at the track

I have the BT-Q100eX (got it from Loudog also) and while it's true you have to download the data to a laptop, you can also sync video to it, which is very cool.

    QStarz BT-Q1000

    Qstarz LT-Q6000

I really like my Starlane Stealth.

it does all the same stuff, track mapping, video sinc, can add on a ton of extra sensors, 3 or 4 section splits, tells you your "ideal" lap time.

the thing I like about is its small. The big screen of the Qstar is cool and all but I'd be afraid would break easily in a crash. It is also hard wired to the bikes battery, no charging.

    Re: GPS lap timer suggestions?

Thanks for the good word guys.

Good talking to you yesterday Kumpy. For others that are interested, Qstarz' Qracing software only works with Windows or on the newer Macs running windows.

I also carry the XT GPXPro, which runs on Windows, but it ain't cheap.

I don't remember the details because I don't use a Mac, but I remember a coupon was included with my timer mentioning what seemed to be native OSX software supporting the QStarz from a 3rd party.

HoudahGeo. I never downloaded it because it seems like its a pay service. the card says the activation code gets you one free month. and with what little info is on the card is seems like its just a photo sharing thing that you can geolocate where the pic was taken.

Jim, do you really need to crash test every component on your bike??

Just emailed you back. Bummer about the off. I'll email Qstarz about barrier proofing them.

Ahhhh, shnikes. Who cares about tagging photos? It's a racing device for crying out loud! Maybe someday there'll be something for Qstarz/Mac.
