The only problem I see with the ZUMO is that is has XM sat. radio. Eveyone knows Sirius rocks.

Once the merger goes through though...

Ditto. I've got a 276c and there is nothing about the new Zumos that would make me want one over the 276. If I wanted the XM and built-in NA detail maps, I'd opt for the updated 378.

Make sure you check out the firmware revision.
You can upgrade that from the internet.

I can't believe the changes in the menu system.

I now can type in Dunkin and it will come up with every Dunkin Donuts
within driving distance. The user interface is great for motorcyclists.

Yeah I recently updated the firmware in my 276c to accomodate a new 512mb datacard, wasn't expecting all the cool new changes to the interface!

Verizon offers gps on some of their new phones. I've got it on mine. Its really great. Sure the screen is small. Not that big of a deal, its got earbuds. That way you don't have to take your eyes off the road. The service is only $10 a month. Use it as much as you want. I shut the service off in the winter and turn it on in the summer months.

    Thumbs up Zumo

I bought a Zumo recently in prep for a x-country trip later this year. The thing is amazing! It has some really cool motorcycle-specific features (like suggesting nearby gas stations when you're due for fuel). It comes with a second car mount and ended up saving my ass in Boston last weekend.

I also found a list of every Triumph dealership in the country and loaded that up... Next up... getting an 8G SD card and filling it up with music.

One of the huge benefits to the Zumo the fact that it's waterproof. I wouldn't want to try a Nuvi in a rainstorm.

Funny you should bring that up. I just got back from a trip to Penn with my friend. he has a Nuvi 350 and I had the zumo. We ran them side by side. While his navigated the same as mine, my colors were richer than his, and his does not look as durable as mine. The Zumo is definitly higher quality as far as looking like it will take abuse. But the Nuvi would be good for a car. But I really like the Zumo and it is very user friendly.

That's a TechMount. TechMount lets you order just the parts you need so I ordered the ones marked here, in Chrome. Came to $50 shipped. It's the lowest profile look I could get.

Well first we'd need to know what bike you have

They make mounts of handlebars, brake fluid resvs, mirror posts... Depends on what you've got available to you.

Worth 680 bucks....no. But if you want it and can justify it, then by all means make yourself happy. I would buy it again at this price but idealy it should be about a 500 dollar unit. But it does come with the Ram mounts and 2 cradles. So you get a lot with it. Here is the pics.

I love mine, it is great if you are in a strange area and need something.
Go to the POI list and select restaurants or gas stations or whatever and
a list pops up with mileage. They have come a long ways.

GPS purpose built for a Motorcycle

I'm really torn between Garmin 276C and the Zumo 450

    advantages for the 276c

lower price ( I have found reconditoned units for $400 with same warranty as new)

    faster processor

    best display on market

disadvantage.... takes the more expensive Garmin propretary memory cards

    advantage for the Zumo 450

comes loaded with Street & City navagator for NA instead of cheesey NA base map

    glove friendly left hand controls

Zumo takes less expensive SD ram cards

disadvantage ... higher initial cost .. cheapest I have found is $550

both are waterproof, 276c is marine unit, can connect to fish finder & depth sounder

Zumo is not slow, nor has it got a crappy display, Zumo is also an MP3 player

if I wanted XM capabilities I'd be looking at 376 or 476 models

Sounds like the NUVI is overall a better deal. Except if you plan on doing some fishing when you're not riding.

the nuvi is not even worth considering for a motorcycle, it's not waterproof
