there are 2 reputable Grom builders on the east coast. the one i went with, i was his 68th 2v 181NEO kit and he had 2 waiting after me. they both work with a dyno tuner in FL that only works on mini bikes that came from specific shops. i'd say it's pretty accurate that i'll be around 24hp. if you read up the 2v 181 NEO kits, you'll see that they get 21+ horsepower. the 4v 181 NEO's will get close to 30hp.

    Re: Grom build

I'm told the ZS190 in my K-Pipe puts out 17hp and I'm scared to use it all, I'm on 17" wheels, and about 65-70 is where fright takes over, I scooted up to 75 once, but I started to tremble and backed right down to 60, I cannot imagine going speeds approaching triple digits on 12" wheels but I'm a huge barn door with limited range of motion

It's not the size of the tires, it's the geometry of the setup that makes the difference.

that Grom race was a ton of fun. pics just came in
    Grom build-dsc_0761-jpg Grom build-dsc_0878-jpg

now the unfun part was flying back to the pits to move the transponder onto the GSXR, take the warmers off, and go right back out for back-to-back races with something of slightly higher horsepower. took a lap or two to relearn how to ride it.

    Re: Grom build

Bought a CBR250 kickstand, cut off the feeler, and new powder coating. Can see in the left the CBR kickstand is more upright and helps the Grom from leaning over too much. When adding the Ohlins suspension, it raises the bike up and leans too much on an OEM kickstand.

very disappointing. 20.5hpnon 90 ethanol free pump gas. the amazon pipe is killing it. could change the cam with something with a different pipe and get to 24hp with ethanol free 93 pump gas.

That's still (I think?) about the same power that either of my stock CRF250L's made, so not too shabby!

I never not been disappointed by a dyno! Still solid numbers on such a small bike!

    still 125cc? I wouldn't be disappointed. 4 valve head? my ZS190 (2 valve) is allegedly 17hp

i believe there is some modifications needed for the 4v to fit properly as well. they make crazy power but not for the average rider that's not checking valves on the regular.

the 17 hp is plenty for the spaghetti frame on my K-Pipe, 4valve engines are available for quite a bit more cake, maybe a racer could justify the cost
