with Ohlins suspension lifting up the ride height, i just ordered a 2011-13 CBR250r kickstand. OEM kickstand gets a scary lean with the current ride height. the CBR250 is a direct bolt on.

    Re: Grom build

When adding an Ohlins shock, it raises the rear a bit. Makes your kickstand too short. CBR250r is a bolt on part that fixes this problem. Cutting off that massive wedge on the side is a must. Once those weld spots are grounded down better, it’ll go off to the powder coater.

there are a few mini bike races up and down the east coast. WERA has 3 classes: Grom Cup, SuperBike Mini, and Formula Mini.

The Grom Cup only allows an intake and exhaust. Honda pay contingency for the top 3 in this class. Some are making more money in the Grom races than they did with the sportbike races.

The race plate isnt mine and i'm borrowing it, since this is a one time deal for me. just wanted to ride it once on the track.

    Re: Grom build

Got a chance to get some laps at Summit Sunday for a mini bike race. Main course, but was cut to 3 laps. There was a 10 minute qualify session where I lapped them entire field at least once. Wasn’t a fair fight as most of the Groms were stock motors (pipe and intake mods only). I entered in a different class from them to not screw with their contingency and championship points. Not only were there a bunch of spectators going nuts over my Grom, but even the cornerworkers were recording during the race. I had so much fun, I was beeping the horn and waiving to them in corners during the race. You get a lot more free time on a 20-25hp bike versus something 115+hp.

I'm jealous, there is so much more available for the Grom than there is for the K-Pipe, it seems.

the pic was needed for people to understand how ridiculous it looks to be on a Grom as an adult

I'm too lazy to look. Do you know - or estimate how much HP/torque you're getting with it? I see the 90+MPH...

24hp, but will confirm when it goes on the dyno on my way to Daytona. i'm using 90 ethanol free pump gas on it.

    stock 2014-2020 motors are 8hp

NEO181 2v kits are 21-23hp out the box. mine has a port/polish head which is 24-25hp based off similar builds.

    Re: Grom build

At the wheel, on a reputable dyno? I'm really curious, I was around for the early 220cc+ Honda Wave platform motors with similar claims and actual dyno numbers ended up coming back much lower. 16hp is enough to push that grom to triple digits so I wouldn't be upset by it if that was the number. 25hp at the wheel from 180cc, 2v aircooled single without it being a grenade is... well, I'm going to be very impressed if it pans out.
