    Any Buellers on here?

Anyone on here with a Buell? I know there has to be a few. If so, do any of you have an ECMSPY/data cable I could borrow for a week or so? Gotta do some tuning and don't want to drop $40.00 for something I will rarely use again.

    Thanks

Same! Go on BadWeB - there must be a cable somewhere nearby.

    Re: Any Buellers on here?

i made my own but it prob cost close to the $40 for the pre-made ones. pretty sure you will want to use it again, Buells are tricky to tune due to the Open / Closed Loop system and Adaptive Fuel Value (AFV), which is the real bitch.

which ECM and pipe do you have?

    Re: Any Buellers on here?

Right now I am running the stock pipe with a K&N filter. Compared to my 03 Firebolt(which had a K&N, gutted exhaust, and full remap), this bike seems to run pretty hot. My cooling fan kicks on after about 20 minutes of spirited riding, and continues to run until I stop and shut off the bike. After shutting off the bike, it runs for another 2 minutes or so, and then shuts off(like normal). On my last Buell, the fan rarely, if ever, came on while riding, and sometimes didn;t even come on after I shut off the bike. I am thinking if I load the race maps I have on file, it might help to richen things up a bit and keep the bike running a little cooler. I will probably also purchase a right side scoop at some point down the road, and i do plan to do another modded exhaust after I get the maps loaded to the ECM. The bike runs absolutely great with no problems, i just hate to hear that fan running so much.....like a vacuum cleaner

    Re: Any Buellers on here?

got it. i thought you were looking more to tune than just load maps. makes sense.

i doubt i have any cables lying around but i will look. pretty sure i sold off all that stuff. i was using a Palm to datalog + MegalogViewer / ECMSpy at the very end... got that thing purring.

i'll also hit up the old local Buell crew and see if they have one around. asking on BadWeb, BuellXB, BuelletinBoard is your best bet, but sounds like you've already done that.

man do i miss that bike.. .

    Re: Any Buellers on here?

one of the guys on BadWeB (froggy) has offered to send me his, so hopefully he comes through. I pmed him my address, but have yet to hear back from him..well see.

Yeah, just doing the race maps for now and changing a couple of parameters in the "other maps" section. Another badwebber a few years back was kind enough to send me the maps he had datalogged for his bike, which had almost the exact same exhaust intake setup that my bike had, and they worked really well on my 03 Bolt, with a noticable increase in power and cooler running..a bit soft on the bottom, but once you hit 3-4 grand, it really lit up.

cool, i'm sure he'll come through, he's been around forever.

if you need any other maps let me know, i saved a ton of shit from back then. i was last running a Drummer w/modified race maps, UNI filter, vented covers, chopped snorkle, etc. damn that thing sounded f'in amazing. total hot rod.

    Re: Any Buellers on here?

hmm, a lot? i guess yes, it did. it's an air cooled motor so the fan is a key part of the system. did i ever worry about it? no.

my only 'hot' issues were with low grade fuel and ping during the summer months. high octane fuel, iridium plugs gapped perfectly, race wires and a little fatness from the tweaked racemaps helped a lot (fuel octane the most, really). i also used to run Mobil 1 synthetic in it.

fan always ran, and always shut off promptly as it should. excessive ping would be your real red flag for an overly lean condition.

    Re: Any Buellers on here?

yeah, i am not getting any pinging whatsoever. The bike runs perfectly, guess I am just not used to the fan running so much while riding the bike. Like I said before, on my 03, even with the gutted exhaust and filter, it hardly ever came on while I was riding. I only run 93 in it, and plan on using the Mobil 1 vtwin 20-50 synthetic at my next oil change
