Angry For anyone with a GSX-R (any size)

This is for anyone who has a GSX-R .

On the right front air intake there are 2 small black boxes. The first one is for the fuses but the second one is a turning signal/kickstand relay. This past weekend some a$@%*#@ stole this off my bike. When this is removed the circuit for the "kill switch" attached to the kickstand is broken. This means that the bike cannot be started. Unless you cut into the main wiring harness and bypass the circuit (yeah who is going to do that).

I would suggest doing the following:
    a. bolt that down somehow if you can
    b. remove it at night if you are in a place you don't know
    c. keep a spare in your tail or tank bag if you have one.

I unfortunately had to leave my bike in another state saturday and sunday until I could get a replacement part. The part isn't cheap either - about $65. If you have a GSX-R please take one of my suggestions. It had to be one of the most frustrating moments.

Well, I'll keep that in mind.

Why on Earth would anyone need to steal one off another bike?

Strange, but you aint got to tell me twice.

My TLR has the same set-up. Can't for the life of me figure out why someone would steal THAT though. Unless they thought it was something else...

I have been unable to figure out why someone would take this too. It's like someone breaking into your car and stealing a spark plug. (I mean really- who throws a shoe.)

Maybe they thought I had an alarm and that would disable it. Who knows. Regardless I would love to meet this individual.

That's kinda what I was thinking. But that little black box surely doesn't look like an alarm. Probably just some puke trying to act like a hero for his little punk-ass friends...

I'll tell you I have called 10 dealers in Mass and NH trying to see if anyone has the part and no-one has it in stock. Some have said that they have had to order these relay's lately. They think because of the fact that it's $65-70 for the part if someone's is stolen then they steal it from someone else. That's just f-ed up.

Unfortunately not. The bike thinks that the kickstand is always down so it will not start. The only solution would be if I could find the way the pins are configured and stick a bypass in. Unfortunately this relay also operates the fuel pump and turning signals so I would have to bypass each circuit. I am going to have it overnighted tomorrow so I can ride by thursday. Only solution. I am going to see if the entire unit can be relocated inside the body so it's a little more hidden. If I find anything I'll let everyone know.

Admittedly, I'm not that bright. But can't ya connect the two wires leading to the sidestand switch (next to the sidestand) together? I believe I did that to wunna my bikes for trackday once so I could take the sidestand off...

I am not abolutely sure but I don't think that will work. Those 2 wires go to a push switch that the kickstand hits. The problem is that those wires go through this relay before they hit the main wiring harness.( I think) I tried holding the switch in but it still doesn't work. Also without this relay the fuel pump won't turn on. I am completely lost on how to rig that one. That is def. above my level of knowledge. It's just a big kick in the balls if you ask me. If anyone knows how to bypass this damn thing please let me know.

WTF was Suzuki thinking putting all those things in one relay/fuse/whatever and making it so accessible?

Don't know where it is on the TL but if it's what I'm thinking of, it's under the rider seat on the SV. The thief would have to take off the black side panels and then remove the seat. (4 bolts total)

I will have to take a look at the next Gixxer I see to look at this thing.
