Scion xB, actually. He's lucky. That's why I have a taillight flasher.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, everybody would have been ready to go all Chuck Norris on the driver, we're all heroes.

Truth is we would all be in shock, confused and wondering what just happened. Then we'd be thankful we were OK and then we'd be able to think about the bike.

accident sucks, though, nothing the rider did and little he could have done to prevent it.

Degsy, as usual you are right, I was going too fast.

He didn't leave himself an escape route and failed to watch his 6. Basic stuff that I do all the time but didn't think of watching the video.

    Thanks

One car length of space between you and the car stopped in front of you. Dunno if he would've been able to get out of there in time but would've been nice to have a little space cushion there.

If the motorcyclist left more room between himself and the car in front of him, the Scion would have been going even faster at the time of impact.

Damned glad to see the rider step out of it like that. Looks like he's standing at the end. Insurance will cover the rest.

Speak for yourself. I'd know what happened as soon as I got creamed. As Degsy pointed out, I almost always check my mirrors when someone pulls up behind me. Lastly, if I'm not laying on the ground in pain, yes my initial reaction would be to snap for a brief period. That's just me though. It's a very unfortunate incident no matter who was to blame.

Has it ever happened to you? If not, how do you "know" what your reaction would be?

I'm not taking a shot at you, but your post was typical of so many others I've seen in similar threads that I "snapped" a little myself.

Re: GXSR Sandwich with SUV buns

I also don't believe too many of us would just go ballistic. I don't think that many of us have pent-up anger management issues.

It has happened to me, so I know what my reaction was. The last time was the morning I was headed to Adam Bell's memorial service and I got rear-ended at a stop sign. Of course I was pissed. I just got up and walked over to the driver and asked her if she was OK.

In a CALM tone I explained to her how ironic it was that she, with the bald tires on her Mercedes, should have been keeping more space and watching in front of her car. It was one of those V-type intersections where you see only about 1/3rd to 1/2 of the drivers actually stop at the stop sign. I'm an idiot because I always stop? I told her were I was heading and that's when she and her husband both started tearing up and blubbering the "I'm so sorry" shit. I took her info and got going. I was fortunate that the damage wasn't too bad and only knocked me off somewhat gently. But I didn't start ranting and raving. that wasn't going to make anything better, and I knew then that later I'd really be kicking her ass with insurance companies and/or court. And I did.

I am pretty confident I'd loose my mind on the driver.

I got hit in my pickup 2 weeks after the final payment on the thing cleared. Guy was driving a larger pickup that cleared my step bumper and just fubar'ed the tailgate. Maybe $5-600 worth of damage. I stopped traffic screaming at the guy.

Maybe I have 'anger management' issues. But really people, when the light is red, we're fucking stopping.

I guess I shouldve been a little more clear when I said "snap". No I don't think I would go "chuck Norris". A few choice words with my arms flying up and down would be more like it. Sorry if you guys disagree.

A few expressive gestures is about as rough as I get these days. The older I get, the meaner I was.

I've been rear ended in a car and rear ended on a bike. I had two totally different reactions. The circumstances surrounding each accident have a HUGE outcome on the response.

Re: GXSR Sandwich with SUV buns

I think it looks like the rider jumped/fell off the bike with either a lot of skill or luck! This is why I always leave space to get out, plan an escape route to get out, leave my bike in gear with the clutch lever pulled in, and am constantly scanning all around me for situations to arise. I've seen too much stupid stuff happen at intersections. Like the time a guy on a moped was riding like a jack ass and rear ended me in my truck. He was scraped up, but okay. The moped was all stoved in, so I offered him a ride home because he lived a block from me. The bumper had a scratch and small dent, but a good size of it is already twisted/sheared so I really didn't care. Just told him he should ride safer and he agreed.

Getting rear ended/rear ending people sucks. I've been on both sides of it. At least I've learned good lessons from these inconvenient events.

I give the guy points for casually stepping of the bike and turning around. Cool Hand Luke.
