When I have to "emergency brake" in situations like in the video, I check my mirros to see what the driver is doing behind me. If the driver ain't slowing down, it's time to find an escape route. Sometimes things happen so fast that you might not have that option.
When I got rear ended on the bike I was 50% pissed, 50% relieved. The relief that I didn't end up on the ground, or crushed between anything, and the bike was still ok were the only things that mattered in the moment. All that I could think about was how much worse it could have been. My neck snapped back really hard, the bike lurched way forward (but didn't touch the car in front of me, because I didn't stop 6" from the bumper in front), but I was ok and I knew my anger would fade. I was even able to laugh because the guy that hit me got rear ended too, and he had more damage to his truck than I had on the bike.
I could have gotten pissed in front of all of the people there and looked like another immature jackass on a bike, but instead I was able to make the guy feel like a real piece of shit without flipping out in any way, and it feels way better knowing you didn't make a bad impression with the paramedics, the firefighters, or the cops that made it on scene in record time (an ambulance was literally stopped and the paramedics were getting out before I even had the kickstand down, they were driving by and saw it happen). I also didn't leave anybody driving by thinking negative thoughts about motorcyclists in general.

Lucky dude
Saw something along these lines on 93 in Lawrence Saturday when i was on the amperlamps .. medflight .. fatality .. rider wasn't as lucky
If that happened to me I'd do the exact same thing, get a grip on the situation, and take a deep breath, because I'd be shaking like michael J fox. Shit happens, you can't really flip out, because you're alive without a scratch. No need to dramatically endanger everyone's cool after the fact.
All I can say is this is exactly why I stop to the left or right side of a car at a light, out of the direct line of traffic.
