What happened to the "bike wave"?

so what happend to all bikers dropin down a hand to acknolege each other? as i rode on the back of my dads bike growing up he told me to always put my left hand down to say hi to other bikers. so did it just fade away or do only the same types of bikes wave to each other? cause it seems that only crotch rocket wave back to me (i ride a fz1) and its very rare for a harley/standard bike wave first. so am i just a tool who waves at every one? is every one just not as frendly? does any one know or have input?

I wave to most everyone, except for a line of customs/HD riders with a line of 15 cars behind them because they are holding up traffic.

the riders that don't wave back are too full of themselves to be worth waving to, or just didn't notice. I wave to just about everyone I see

I wave to everyone too, and notice it's the guys trying to look tough on their Harleys that barely wave back. Well, if they take a hand off the bars the vibration may cause a tankslapper, so it's understandable.

I wave at everyone, I ride sport bikes and dual sports, 2 wheels are 2 wheels. I get teh majority of sport bike, standard, touring to wave and about 50% of the cruisers to wave back, mostly the non harley guys. I guess the guys on the harleys are pissed off that they paid so much for a loud machine that doesn't perform well, too upset to wave. Either that or they are afraid that if they take a hand off the bars the vibrations will shake the other hand off to and they could lose control.

ok so im not just crazy...well about this any way. good point though, it seems to be the guys tryin to look tough that dont respond. so ill keep on wavin just wanted to be sure. by the way do all HD/customs come stock with a sleevless shirt half helmet and black boots?

I also wave as I do a "speed pass" passed cruisers and harleys

I especially enjoy cruisers who are trying to go fast on a 2 laners and have more respect for the slower parades of Hadas.

But they all get a cheery wave like they let me pass

It seems like more of the Hog riders wave now that I'm riding a noisy half naked twin than they did when I had my fireblade.

I'd say I get a return wave about 50% of the time, usually from the people who look like they have been riding long enough to know what they are doing. The new sportbike riders (shorts and t-shirt) look at me like "Why the hell are you waving at me?" and the Harley guys look insulted (Fuckers ) I still keep on waving though

I usually just wave to the rockets since I know the harley riders are to selfish to extend the courtesy. However, I will alwasys wave back to anyone that waves to me...

What annoys me is being the only one in a group to wave back.

To be honest, I'd say at least half the HArleys/cruisers wave back if I wave at them. Some sportbikes don't wave back, and I agree, it's often the oneswearing shorts and tank tops...not sure why. The only times I won't wave is if I'm leaning a little too much and I don't feel safe letting go of my handlebars...
