Harley versus Camaro (Spoilers: Camaro wins!)

Was he going out riding with the intent of crashing? Usually when wearing a gopro, one tries to do something exciting. Also, the car is clearly visible slowing for a turn a full 6 seconds before impact... what was the rider doing during that time? For all his fail, I'm glad he's (relatively) alright though.

It looks like just seconds before he hits, he looks off and to the right at the structure (farm?).

As for the rest of it, it's all pretty baffling. Didn't look like he slowed down to much in the time between when he hit the brakes and when he contacted the car. But that's really difficult to guess in a video. Prior to brakes, he's about 70mph based on a 120mph speedo. Just before hitting, looks like he got down to maybe 55?

Where the GoPro is attached to the helmet, and you can detect the helmet dipping, then bobbing up for a moment and back down, I'd say he was looking at his shadow.

It was a nice day and I had to drive 3 hours south for work the next day and on the way I decided to stop in cedar key fl on the gulf coast for some lunch. Just crusin barely above the limit a Camaro slowed down without breaking so I didn't notice any break lights to catch my attention and on top of that I wasn't being aware of my surroundings and was looking to the right a little. At that perfect moment I realized how close the car got and it was too late. As I hit the breaks I looked for an escape, there was no way I was gonna make it all the way to the left and go around so I looked off road to the right and saw a parked truck and telephone pole and that seemed like a bad idea so i just kept on the brakes and tried to get as far right as I could and take my chances trying to skim by the side. as you see that didn't go well. I went to the hospital and got some x'rays and nothing was broken! I was limping for about a week and a half and other than that I was completely fine. I'm very lucky I didn't break a bone let alone that I survived rear ending a car at 68mph. I think my rucksack protected my back a'lot and cushioned the rear window from breaking and obviously I had a helmet too. Oh ya, if your wodering. Yes my bike is destroyed and I think ill buy a car next.

Oof. There was enough room on the right to drive a bus through- sideways. I'd have to guess if that were me, my track time would have taught me most of the obvious ones there- look waaay the hell ahead, wear gear, use that front brake like God intended, and if none of that works ride through that huge open area you've already taken note of.

Full disclosure- I learned this good judgement from some previous bad judgement.

Not paying attention, even for a split second, seems to lead to a very high percentage of oh shit moments. I gave up sightseeing on my bike years ago for that reason.

^ this. He had more room to the right that he could have possibly used but panicked and fixated on the bumper instead. Given the time he had after he reacted he might have been able to go to the left but that would have been harder.

Of course, not hugging the line on one side when you're riding solo gives you a lot more options. My first thought once the video started was "why the hell is he riding on the paint?"...

IMO, the motorcyclist was 100% at fault. Go to bike night in Lowell some night. Or hang out near the border on I95 sometime and check out the squidly types headed for Hampton Beach.

My personal favorite is the guys riding a gixxah 1000 with a pair of basketball shorts, flip flops, and $300 oakleys. Then, strapped to the side of the pillion, is a $700 Arai.

I rode 10min the other day without my jacket for the first time. I felt NAKED!

The car's brake lights are on, but they're really hard to see in the video with the bright sunlight. You can see the CHMSL on the spoiler lit up as the rider approaches.
