In all seriousness, a sheet of aluminum flashing, a pop rivet gun, and some high-temp silicone should do the trick after you cut a hole to clear the exhaust. Just be ready for some origami practice with the aluminum!

    Re: hawk race prep

you free at all on saturday or sunday? I can come by and we can try to figure something out. I'm not worried about making the exhaust fit, I'll take some pics of mine tomorrow after I pick it up or thursday. show you how much I had to cut out of the parts that wrap in towards the headers. the only thing that worries me is the very bottom front point of the lower close to the tire. but looks can also be deceiving. like mine if you look at it from the side it looks like it goes further forward but if you look at it right behind the tire it actually goes back a bit to give more room. and the only time I'd even worry about it touching is under hard braking if there's a lot of flex in the forks. taking the springs out and moving the forks through their travel probably isn't going to tell you shit because up and down at the same angle the forks are at which if you just look at the pic that angle the tire won't touch. I hope you understand all that.

this is how close the lower left side fits to the exhaust. and that's with the rear pushed out about an inch from the frame where it should be bolted. still gotta make up the bracket for that but that'll be a piece of cake.hawk race prep-904401_10151435275499934_1816246382_o-jpg this is the bracket I had to make to hold the tail up off the exhaust can (bonus is that it was a nice place to make a mount for the Bazzaz box.hawk race prep-906657_10151449095774934_1005535676_o-jpg

    Re: hawk race prep

Alright so since its been raining I haven't had a chance to test the bike on the road under heavy breaking but I tried a little something tonight. Put the iPhone recording and I jumped on the forks as hard as I could (lol). I know it's nowhere near heavy braking but it is somewhat an estimate. Again I don't have the skills or knowledge to do anything else and the plan still remains that either Brett will help me if I manage sometime off or I work on it Thursday night with Kurtz. But maybe this video will help the experienced ones tell me if I need more clearance or not.

If youre going to be braking like that then you might as well stay home. Thats about enough compression to get over one of the smaller bumps in a follow the leader session.

How does it look compared to the puke you slept next to all night and then left?

Actually, I'm amazed at how much real-sportbike-sized full bodywork makes a Hawk look.

Though I wasn't saying it looks bad, it wasn't a compliment Sav One of my favorite things about the Hawk is it's thin look...I don't particularly like throwing all the bodywork on there...but the pics do make the paint look nice at least
