Seen some banter on adv. I'd definitely take one for a lil rip, but at ~$8k, I could buy a lot more bike.
Not that I wanna hate immediately or anything, but I'm probably not their target market.
Cliff's Cycles KTM
NETRA enduro B-vet
Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
I'm guessing the 500 motor will be put into something to replace the blasts we have been using as the riders edge bikes. I doubt they will be putting new riders in $6700 street 500's to just drop and crash all over.
by the looks, it looks very similar to a dyna. pictures can be deceiving though. it may be sportster sized but i wont know until one shows up at work

500 out of a 1250, that's a lot of cases for a small motor. I dunno if HD would make another single...
from the pics it definitely looks like a smaller motor than the v rod. lots of space around the jugs

a little reading this morning on our dealer HD site shows that these will be 2015s. it also seems that, yes, they are looking to aim these at riders edge to replace the blasts

Hope they crash well. The blasts were perfect, the plastic bodywork held up great. Can't see the dealer fronting the $$ for a fleet of $6k bikes and the associated costs for replacement parts and repairs. Will see what happens.
Wirelessly posted (GS3)
Blast parts are getting slim I assume

yes. We have been struggling to keep our fleet of 8 up and running. We only do classes of 6 so having 2 spares is key in case something happens during the course.
Rider's Edge never told us what they were doing for a replacement. The last we heard was that they were in year 3 of a 5 year plan.
..The Street was developed with one eye on a global market, where many customers are put off by Harley’s classic road hogs. Harley interviewed more than 3,000 customers in 10 countries and conducted about 1,000 focus groups in cities such as Chicago, Mumbai, Sao Paulo and Tokyo, making it the company’s most researched and market-tested product.
“We’re doing a lot better job as a company getting the voice of the customer into the front end of the process so the bikes we design and develop really meet the needs and requirements of the consumer,” Chief Executive Officer Keith Wandell, 63, said in an interview yesterday.
Harley expects to begin selling the Street in 2014’s first half in the U.S., India as well as Italy, Portugal and Spain, Matt Levatich, president and chief operating officer of the Harley-Davidson Motor unit, said in a separate interview. The 500 will sell for about $6,700 and the 750 for about $7,500, making them Harley’s least expensive bikes.
The Street 500 also will serve as the bike for thousands of participants in Harley’s Rider’s Edge driver training program. Harley had used the Buell Blast. When graduates of the program wanted to buy a bike, Harley didn’t have a lightweight bike to offer them.

looks like they will have frame guards and a full protection kit mounted and the ecm will limit speed in 1st and 2nd gear
Well that takes the fun out of them... I want full speed in 1st and 2nd dang-it!
My coworker told me Harley now offers "street bikes" and I said all of Harley's current offerings are street bikes. He looked confused and said but they don't look like your green one. Referring to my Ninja.
